This is what I’ve learned : don’t take the free fancy electric car upgrade when you are in a town with very little electric charge station infrastructure

Yep it’s 2 am and in order to get back to my hotel next to Paisley Park I needed to find a charge station after a 17 hour day. I think this may be the only one that works in downtown Minneapolis

Ironically it’s located 4 blocks from where Prince grew up, in North Minneapolis.

Oh and because I did a U-Turn when I got lost on the way here, I was pulled over by a trooper and because it was 1:30 am, they assumed I must have drank! (I had not). So I got to do my first roadside sobriety test in the USA! Tip: it’s hard, even when you’re sober! But then I blew 0.00 and they became apologetic lol!! Hope I make the purple episode of ‘Cops’ or something lol

Oh so THIS IS WHY no one was renting the electric vehicles in Minneapolis! All stations full or broken in downtown, had to drive 25 minutes to a freaking TARGET in the suburbs to get a charge!

Pro tip for travelers: most people don’t like to drive electrics or are scared of them. So there are ALWAYS a surplus of electric cars at the airport rental lots. Ask for an electric upgrade and most of the time they will give them to you for free. They need these cars to be driven so they can swap them out regularly for newer models !

Leaving tomorrow morning for a very special personal trip.

Since I was 10 years old and I first purchased Purple Rain on cassette with my allowance money, I have been absolutely in love with the music of Prince and the Purple Rain album. From there, I discovered more albums by the The Revolution with Prince, plus the New Power Generation and numerous incarnations of Prince's many bands.

This 5 day celebration and 40th Anniversary of Purple Rain will have so many highlights, I am sure. I splurged for the VIP pass so I will be inches away from The Revolution while they play First Avenue & 7th St Entry this weekend - the same club that Prince got his start in, and Purple Rain was shot in. You can only imagine how heavy that is for me! I will also hear Morris Day, the New Power Generation, and attend private panel discussions with Susan Rogers (Prince's greatest engineer), the Revolution and other members of the Purple Legacy. I am super excited to hear music from 'The Vault' that will be opened up just for VIP guests, and a really in-depth tour of Paisley Park. I have a personal item from my dear friend Marvin Kee that I will be slipping in between Prince's couch pillows in Studio A, if it kills me! Marvin WILL live on in Prince's house!!!

There are so many people I would love to be sharing this experience with. My best friend Kelly D. Marce, my partner Elena, my brother in all things Prince Alexander Kristian Andresen, my closest Calgary friend and beloved brother Marvin Kee, my dear friend and fellow Minnesota artist loving friend Patrick MacIntyre (Via Dylan, or course) and my old boss Steve Cranwell who let me be the marketing director for Prince's album 3121, which led me to meet and hang with Prince and the band in his LA home in. 2008... But in the end, this will be a solo mission and one that I can't wait to experience. It's a bucket list Mecca trip for me, and I promise to share lots of photos on my wall and the Purple Jazz wall, and bring stories home with me for the next PurpleJazz show on July 25th @ The Ironwood Stage & Grill!!!!!

Someone texted me this interview I gave to CBC the day Prince passed away. I haven't seen this in a long time and it is a pretty crazy story that will remain imprinted in me until my final days. It's kinda funny and if you are celebrating Prince's music tonight on what would have been his 66th birthday, give it a watch! Just google Prince, Scott Morin, CBC and it should come up first in the queue. Stupid Facebook news story blocking.

I'll be in Minneapolis and Chanhassen for the 40th Anniversary of Purple Rain Prince celebrations from June 19th - 24th. I'm staying in Chanhassen just a few blocks from Paisley Park and have a car rental to get around. If anyone I know on here will be in Minneapolis from the 19th - 24th, for Purple reasons or other business or personal reasons, please reach out ! Would be great to see a familiar face in the sea of Purple that week!

NEXT THURSDAY NIGHT - come celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Purple Rain with a film screening at The Ironwood Stage & Grill and a performance from a killer band featuring Kate Stevens, Nikki Vie, Richard Harding, André Wickenheiser, Aaron Shorr, Jim Johnston, Kodi Hutchinson and Bob Fenske! With special guest Ian Menzies on guitar! We're going to have a ton of fun playing some new arrangements and mixing up the set with classics from the Purple Rain era along with hard bop rarities from the Blue Note era. Please come early to watch Purple Rain with us and hang in all its 1980s brilliance, lol!!!
