🔥Devon Parkinson: Inclusion Lead 🔥
❓️ Why does Vivo have an Inclusion Lead? ❓️
We believe every child deserves to feel like they belong. By working proactively to remove barriers, partnering closely with families, and supporting our staff, we create an environment where inclusion is intentional, consistent, and safe—so every child can build confidence, independence, and connection.
For Devon, camp memories come with a very specific soundtrack and smell: the crackle of a campfire and smoky air drifting through an evening of songs, skits, marshmallows, and big dreams shared between campers and leaders.
In our latest Campfire Chat, Devon shares some of her favourite camp memories — from performing hilarious campfire skits to embracing truly unforgettable moments of camp spirit.
One standout? Spending a summer working at a camp for people with disabilities where her campers transformed her hair into a “Q-tip stegosaurus braid,” covered her in zombie clown makeup, and sentenced her to a shaving cream hairstyle during a camp-wide Kangaroo Court… all in 40-degree heat.
“Worth every second for the smiles and laughter,” she says.
When she’s not fully embracing the chaos of camp spirit, Devon says she’d absolutely dominate arts and crafts — but would probably try to quietly disappear when it was time for climbing activities because, in her words, “my feet prefer to stay on the ground.”
And the song that instantly brings her back to camp mode?
Surprisingly: Get Low — thanks to a campfire parody performance she still remembers nearly 20 years later. Read Devon's full Campfire Chat: https://bit.ly/4ufp6go
