We are so grateful to have had this beautiful collection at Canopy Studios all month with 5 local artists exhibiting together. It’s been such a pleasure working with them this month!

Afshan Khan
A self-taught abstract artist from Rocky View County whose richly textured acrylics — shaped with expressive palette knife techniques — capture the light, movement, and atmosphere of Canadian landscapes.

Allison Dawrant
A Calgary mixed media artist who left a nursing career in 2020 to pursue a more intentional life centered on creativity. Her work finds beauty in quiet moments and the meditative joy of the process.

Tracy & Neil — ARTrophy
A husband-and-wife duo who paint side by side on the same canvas, merging two perspectives into one fluid expression. Rooted in the Canadian Rockies — Canmore, Banff, the Bow Valley, Ya Ha Tinda — their work transforms familiar horizons into movement, light, and line.

Yevheniia Vasylkova
An emerging Ukrainian visual artist based in Airdrie who explores displacement, trauma, and healing through watercolour, collage, and interactive community-focused work that invites dialogue and connection.

Back & Forth: A Collaborative Painting Experience

Co-create paintings in a playful pass-the-canvas workshop. Let go, get curious & build on each other’s marks—no experience needed.

Back & Forth: A Collaborative Painting Experience
Brought to you by Neil and Tracy of
Friday, May 22nd from 6:00 - 8:00 pm
Canopy Studios, 1723 9th St SW

Step into a playful and freeing creative experience where control is loosened and curiosity leads the way.
In this collaborative workshop, each participant begins their own painting before passing it to their partner. Throughout the session, paintings are exchanged several times—inviting you to respond, adapt, and build on each other’s marks in an evolving visual conversation.

This process is designed to spark creativity, encourage trust, and gently challenge the instinct to hold on too tightly to outcomes. As layers unfold, so does a deeper sense of openness, spontaneity, and connection.
No experience is necessary—just a willingness to explore.

Come with a partner of any kind: a friend, spouse, or creative companion.

Expect laughter, surprise, and the unexpected beauty that emerges when we create together.

Ages 18+
Fee: $50.00 per person
Grab tickets on eventbrite or DM and we will send you the link!
