Delicious 😋
After my oven has been out of commission for MONTHS we FINALLY got it fixed!
Which of course means that we needed to christen it with some baking. My lil girl decided we should make Apple Muffins and man they turned out so good! I never even thought or considered making apple muffins but I am so happy she chose this. AND they are pretty darn healthy so I feel better about using them for breakfast this week!
My mainstay muffin is Blueberry but am thinking I'm gonna have to keep trying out new kinds!
What flavors are your favourites?

Things I was wrong about this week...and I'm limiting them to 5 otherwise I may run out of room.
1. When taking my daughter for a COVID test I thought the throat swab would be better than the nose...that would be a big NO! She gagged and choked and cried...I think she actually preffered the nasal one...uncomfortable bug didn't elicit and knee-jerk body reactions.
2. If I am too busy cleaning other areas of the house SOMEONE will help with the dishes.
3. Thinking designating beneficiaries on RRSP, Life Insurance etc should ALWAYS be done. Nope - it can conflict with your will.
4. A beneficiary of your will CAN in fact be your Executor

5. That you don't have to clean your vacuum- cuz I did it this week and OMG cleans so much better now!
So this is me, just helping normalize that we all don't know EVERYTHING, nor should we expect to.

This sweet little piece is 5" in diameter and is going to be auctioned off for the next 72 hours in support of . (Details below)
Originally this lil guy was being created in support of in an effort to help him get the life saving drug Zolgensma. Since that time Kaysen has received this incredible drug and so I would like to pass my usual 50% of the sales from this piece to
Love for Lewiston is a Foundation based in Calgary and uses funds raised for SMA research as well as for supporting SMA families and the unique needs and equipment required when living with SMA.
At the time of naming this piece I stumbled upon 'Roots and Wings' a song by and it wasn't until just now that I see how fitting it is for this cause. I am hoping that the funds that I will be able to donate from this will allow these beautiful souls with SMA to live a longer life, setting their foundation and roots to live a more fulfilled life than they may have otherwise had the opportunity to. Along with that I hope they are able to spread their wings and enjoy their passions and make their dreams come true and really fly living life to the fullest.

Breaking the Rules over here!

Just keep swimming...
Well this week has been a bit of a cluster. New years had an awful start with the news off the death of Sgt Harnett here in Calgary, Alberta. Add in online learning, my 1st responder hubby going back to work this week, weather changes bringing in those nasty Chinook headaches, and last but not least my kindergartener had all her online learning canceled for the rest of the week.
So yesterday, instead of doing her actual lesson plan that I was supposed to teach her we made a birthday picture and she drew some cute little puppies on it for her dayhome friend.
To say I was impressed with her skills is an understatement.

I have been working on and off this piece since the summer, after a successful auction for
I wanted to create this piece to be auctioned off for .
Since I started this piece both of these sweet little kiddos have received Zolgensma, the $3 million dollar treatment they so badly needed.
So while I still have the finishing touches to complete. Would you have any ideas onwhat you think a good name would be?
Once this piece is completed I will be running an auction, with 50% of proceeds being donated to to help in the fight against SMA.

Calgary police officer killed in the line of duty
Senseless tragedy, there are no words only feelings as I share this loss with you. Feelings of anger, sadness and frustration fill me.
Sgt. Andrew Harnett, 37, joined the Calgary Police Service 12 years ago.
While working to keep our streets safe, he was struck by a vehicle fleeing a traffic stop. Despite the heroic attempts by his colleagues and members of EMS, he died as a result of his injuries.
My heart goes out to the family, his police family, his friends and even to those that may have witnessed this tragedy.

All of you! You who I am blessed to have like, share, comment and bid on my work.
I'm so incredibly thankful to those of you who trust me enough to commission pieces or buy my originals.
I will never becone used to the feeling of pure joy I get when someone likes my art - and not just likes it, but likes it enough to comment or share or purchase it.
Art is such a deeply personal preference that I am always so lucky and fortunate to be able to do something that brings me joy and share it with all of you. In exchange I have committed to give 50% of all sales each month to a non-profit - paying forward the blessings you all bring me.

2020....
Well you haven't been easy, you've pushed me and pulled me in ways I didn't want to be.
But you've also had some great moments. Moments of reflection, of creativity, of community, and well lets face it FOOD lol...food was one of the few things that made things feel 'special' this year.
It was a year where I wanted to dig deeper into me and my art. But, 2020 had other ideas. It made me pivot HARD and art became something much less demanding and much more comforting. No longer done to grow a following, or to try and get positive feedback.
Art became about what was good for me, the communities I want to support and more about pure creativity. Those moments of calm and stillness that come with immersing yourself so purely in the process.
So while 2020 brought a lot of uncertainty and very little that I could control. It also brought me to a better state of mind...
(not body cuz there was A LOT of food and drink enjoyed)...
I now create without feeling the pressure to post daily or to create just for the purpose of being able to have content. I am able to really just enjoy creating again and enjoy the peace it brings me.
So with that I say thank you and goodbye - 2021 I cant wait to see what you have in store!

Progress...
It is definitely quiet and slow when embroidery is involved, almost meditative.
Dealing with all that 2020 has brought, all the unknown and anxiety that comes with it.
This art has been such a blessing to me and has given me the healthy creative escape I needed.
So thank you for following along on this. In the photos zove I've included progress shots on my last commissioned piece of the year - 'Reaching II'

Charity of the Month
This month I decided to donate 50% of my sales to the Kettle Fund.
While I know I'm not a large organization making a huge difference to the fundraising goals to the charities I choose, I do hope that I am able to continue making the art I love and supporting those causes close to me ♡.
So far this month, $50 will be going towards the virtual red Kettle- can't wait to see if I can bump that up with exactly 2 weeks left to this month and this crazy year we've had!
