🚨 ARTIST HIGHLIGHT: The Blox Arts Centre is excited to feature Howells, a Calgary-based heavy alternative band blending gothic emo, post-hardcore, shoegaze atmosphere, and massive hooks into a sound they call Halocore.

Moving between atmospheric beauty, cathartic heaviness, and emotional intimacy, Howells draws inspiration from the rock and metal of the 2000s while bringing their own modern sound. Their cinematic music videos, sold-out hometown shows, and emotionally charged performances have helped build a devoted audience across Alberta’s alternative scene. 🔥🤘

Dark but hopeful, Howells makes music that feels sacred and dangerous, bringing atmosphere, emotion, and heaviness together in a sound distinctly their own. 🤘

Releases:
⚡ Fade Into Being Pt. 1 (April 2026)
⚡ Broken Roses
⚡ “94” feat. 90’s Winona
⚡ Fade Into Being Pt. 2 (Coming October 30, 2026)

Their latest single, “94” featuring 90’s Winona, is a nostalgic, pop-punk-leaning song about aging, lost time, and wishing you could return to a summer that felt endless. Its cinematic music video continues the connected story introduced in “Broken Roses.”

Their upcoming album, Fade Into Being Pt. 2, arrives October 30, completing the two-part project that began with April’s Fade Into Being Pt. 1, which has earned more than 70,000 streams.

Two-time YYC Music Award nominees for Rock Recording of the Year in 2025 and 2026, Howells has received coverage and radio support from CBC Radio One, Idioteq, the Calgary Guardian, CJSW, X92.9, and college radio across Canada.

🐊Catch Howells at GatorFest III, happening October 9 & 10 at The Blox Arts Centre!

🚨 ARTIST HIGHLIGHT: The Blox Arts Centre is excited to feature ℙ𝔢𝔯 V̷𝔢𝔩𝔲𝔪, a Calgary/Banff-based modern heavy band blending soaring vocals, powerful riffs, twin guitars, and symphonic arrangements into a sound entirely their own.

Led by 14-year-old guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist Theo Will, Per Velum combines power metal and groove with elements of progressive metal, metalcore, beatdown, and funk. Their members bring different ages and musical backgrounds together, creating music that explores history and social issues while carrying one clear message: metal is for everyone. 🔥🤘

Per Velum means “through the veil,” and their music invites listeners into a world of heavy riffs, storytelling, and community. From melodic vocals to the occasional metal flute, their shows make room for experimentation, connection, and everyone who wants to be part of the experience. 🤘🖤

Releases & Upcoming Projects:
⚡ Prison Break (July 2025)
⚡ Under Attack (December 2025)
⚡ Debut full-length concept album — planned for late 2026/early 2027

Currently finishing their first full-length concept album, Per Velum has also developed acoustic versions of many of their songs, bringing their music to folk festivals, community events, and country venues alongside their heavy performances.

Winners of the 2026 YYC Music Award for Performer of the Year and three-time YYC Music Award nominees, the band continues to bring heavy music to new audiences. Their 2026 Waynestock performance marked the first time a metal band was welcomed at the folk festival.

With appearances at Decimate Metal Fest, participation in the Wacken Canada Metal Battle, and coverage and radio support from Alt YEG Magazine, the Rocky Mountain Outlook, X92.9, and CJSW, Per Velum is building momentum across Alberta’s music scene.

🐊 Catch Per Velum at GatorFest III, happening October 9 & 10 at The Blox Arts Centre!
