This past Saturday we performed for a wonderful group called "Friendship Force Calgary Region". If you are unaware, as I was, of who they are, please check out their page. They are part of an international group, started by Jimmy Carter, to promote peace throughout the world through travel and learning about the cultures you visit. You can find out more information about them on the international website: friendshipforce.org Because if it's one thing we desperately need right now in our world, it is peace and understanding ... and that is exactly what this group promotes. They took some pics while attending the performance which I share with you now.

We are pleased to announce that we have acquired a permanent rehearsal space for Acting our Age! The Forest Lawn Legion has graciously allowed us to rehearse in their building. As payment for the use of their facility, we will provide them with free performances to use as fundraisers. Prior to having this space we had to book free spaces at the many libraries around the city. It was difficult to find a library where we could book consistently so having a space at the legion has made life for us much easier! So a big THANK YOU to the FOREST LAWN LEGION!! And FYI ... membership at the legion is FREE! I would encourage anyone who wants to honour those who have served our country in the military to consider becoming a member. Lest we forget!

Acting is an art form that involves every part of your being ... your mind, your gestures, your stance, your voice inflections and, of course, your facial expressions. Just as in life.

Happy New Year everyone! We are off to a great start in 2026.
1) We've had our first show this year and we are fully booked through June already!!
2) We are going to perform for some new groups this year ... including the Alberta Retired Teachers Convention ... which is very exciting!
3) We are busy rehearsing in our new rehearsal space! Whoot! Photos to come very soon!
4) And we've added a new member to our group. A big welcome to Kevin! More info on our newest actor soon!

And that's a wrap! We had our last performance for the year 2025 last night at MacEwan Ridge Villas annual Christmas Dinner. We always love performing for this enthusiastic and engaged audience. It's so much fun doing what we love doing and hearing the audiences hearty laughter ... for as we all know, laughter is the BEST medicine for all our ills!
From all of us, to all of our wonderful families, friends and enthusiastic supporters ... may this holiday season be filled with much love, laughter, peace and joy!

"I wanted to share this information from a resident who saw the show last Wednesday. She said she had a lousy day, and on top of that she has a broken arm.

When I asked how the performance was, she said it was so well done and so very funny. She said she laughed until her cheeks ached, and the laughter removed all the bad parts of her day.

Thanks, ever so much for bringing Joy our way."

ACTING OUR AGE MILESTONE REACHED!!
Friday September 12 marked our 100th PERFORMANCE as a group. And what better place to accomplish that than at the Bowness Senior's Centre performance on that day! With an always appreciative audience and wonderful staff members, it has become one of our favourite venues in which to perform. This was our 4th time performing for them bringing a brand new program to them every time. So thank you to Beverly and Merrill for always making us feel so welcome there and helping us to celebrate this Acting our Age milestone!!

After a quiet summer break, it's time to let everyone know what's happening with Acting our Age again! Hope you all had a great summer!

With our summer break over we've been rehearsing some new sketches and opened our fall season performing some of them for our annual Family and Friends performance last Wednesday evening.

We had a packed house for the show and enjoyed lots of laughs, good music and refreshments with our audience. We not only had them laughing at our new comedy pieces, but had them tapping their toes to some amazing musical numbers featuring, not only Slim Chance (Royce), but his fellow musicians James Thurgood on fiddle, John Corbett on guitar and Banjo Bob ... well I guess you can figure out what he played!! Anyway, a good time was had by all and we appreciate everyone who came out to encourage and support us. Thank you for making it a delightful evening!

For anyone wishing to book our group you need to know that September and October are fully booked, we can schedule one more show the last week of November and are currently booking into December.

Well we wrapped up our season with a last performance at Wentworth Manor. We were short two of our actors but pulled off a great show with Slim doing a great job as our musician and MC. Afterwards, we had some fun posing for pics and NOT acting our ages!!

We will be taking a well deserved break in July and then we'll be back at 'er in August with our annual free Friends and Family show.

If you know anyone who would be interested in booking us in the fall, please let me know. We are already booked full in September and October, but have some openings remaining in November and December.
