This sweet little raccoon is still looking for it’s perfect home. The details are on my website.

I pulled out this grizzly bear painting this week to rework and finally finish. I started it last year and abandoned it when the colours just weren’t working for me. I think it’s finally going in a direction I’m happy with! Second picture is where I left it last spring and I’ve now spent another 15 or so hours on it.

Happy Friday!
Two little birds that never even made it on the feed before they sold last September at Spruce Meadows. A white crowned sparrow and yellow rumped warbler 🥰

I left my studio for the first couple days of birding last week. Mostly saw a lot of the usual characters for this time of year but it was great to grab my camera and get outside!

The other practice piece I’ve been working on. My sweet Lani. She’s my little studio assistant so if anyone has ever received a painting and found a tiny piece of dog hair stuck in the paint… I apologize and also it’s her fault 🙈

One of the things I’ve always wanted to learn was how to paint with oils. I gave it a try last year and then ended up putting them away to focus on commissions and pieces for shows with my trusty acrylic paints.
Now I’m getting back to practicing and what better way than to work on some portraits of the animals in my life. The model for this piece is my sister’s kitty Alice. She’s still missing some details and her whiskers but I’m pretty pleased with the attempt so far. That vibrant green background does not photograph well! But in person it’s a gorgeous emerald green.

I’ve had a bit of a rough transition into the new year so I’m glad to learn I haven’t completely forgotten how to paint. It’s nice to finally pick up my paintbrushes again and start something new 🥰

Since I can’t share anything I’m working on at the moment it’s the perfect chance to show off these two pencil portraits I did this year. I don’t do too many non paintings these days but these were very special and I ended up really enjoying the process.
Thank you Sharidene for the trust on these portraits of your boys. 🥰

My newest collection! 🦊🦝🐿️

I took a break from painting birds to work on some little fluffy guys. They’re all dolled up and ready for their debut
I’ll be there this Friday, Saturday and Sunday for week 1!

I’m so in love with how these turned out and there’s one or two that I was secretly tempted to keep for myself!

I’m super excited to finally get to post this large commissioned painting I finished recently. At 39”x39” this was a ride from start to finish and I’m so thankful for the trust of my collector to bring her vision to life. I’m so proud of what we created!

Working on this piece made me so excited to expand the range of colours I usually gravitate towards. It’s funny, I was so afraid of colour for such a long time and now I can’t imagine any other way to paint.
