The Perfectly Imperfects' Spotlight: Pamela Schroder
"I have been captured by music since I was surrounded by the musicality of my parents - my dad’s fantastic rhythm and my mom’s beautiful piano playing and singing. As a child I pretended I was a singer performing while I played records from their stack of 78s, especially “If I Knew You were Coming, I’d Have Baked a Cake” and “Cruising Down the River”. During later years I sang in school and church choirs.

I am delighted that as a senior, I now have the opportunity to be part of a performing choir... a dream come true. Two years ago, I was invited by a friend to join the Perfectly Imperfects directed by Alison... who has encouraged and inspired me to trust myself and give my all to singing. I am thrilled to be a part of this welcoming group."

The Perfectly Imperfects' Spotlight: Judy Chartrand
"I am a retired nurse who has always loved music & singing but was shy about singing in front of people. When I learned that someone was coming to teach singing, it sounded like something I would like to try. And, because it was such a great "sister" thing to do, I encouraged them to join as well. I have now been singing with the Perfectly Imperfects, taught by Alison, for 14 years.

I love the name because it implies that you don't have to be perfect and I enjoy the camaraderie of this very close-knit group... we have lots of laughs! Our performances are a lot of work but so rewarding. I love how Alison weaves and builds our story and provides encouragement to challenge ourselves out of our comfort zone… in a very positive way!"

The Perfectly Imperfects' Spotlight: Richard Hehr

I have always loved to sing. On Sunday mornings growing up, my father would rise early, make a pot of Nabob, light up a smoke, and begin to sing. I would soon join him. He started with gospel songs, such as “How Great Thou Art,” and then came golden oldies, like, “Down By the Riverside.” Dad was a WW2 vet. So, we would do some songs he had learned while stationed in Halifax. His favorite was, “Someday I’m Going to Murder the Buglar.” We would close with Irish tunes, such as “An Irish Lullaby.” I will never sing with my father again. But through some kind of magic, whenever I meet with Alison and the rest of the Perfectly Imperfects, I am taken back to those wonderful Sunday mornings, and I feel good.

We have a name for our Thursday choir... The Mosaics! If you know someone who might like to join us in weaving group singing lessons with choir singing, we would love to have a few more people in our group!

Are you looking for that perfect last minute gift idea for the person who has everything? Does your loved one enjoy singing, being in community with others and have availability during the day? If so, we may have the perfect gift!

Within a small community choir of supportive people, the Mosaics have a great time weaving singing in a community choir with group singing lessons!
