I am holding a fundraiser for an original 16" x 20" oil painting "Northern Lights of Hope" in honour of my stepdad, Rob Elliott, and his courageous battle with cancer
Over the past several months, Rob has shown incredible strength and determination. After successful immunotherapy treatments, he spent June and July in Toronto undergoing surgery to remove a tumour. We are grateful to share that he is recovering well. His journey is not over, however, as he will soon begin chemotherapy and radiation treatments to eliminate any remaining cancer cells.
Throughout this journey, Rob and his wife, Linda (my mom), have been overwhelmed by the kindness, encouragement, and support they have received from family, friends, and even complete strangers. Rather than accepting financial assistance for themselves, they have graciously asked that 100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser be donated in their honour to Princess Margaret's Cancer Centre Lodge, which provides lodging and support for cancer patients and their families during treatment, as well as the Canadian Cancer Society. It is their hope that these donations will help support others who are walking the same difficult path.
Cancer affects not only the individual but also their family, friends, and community. Every ticket purchased is more than a chance to win an original piece of artwork—it is an opportunity to provide hope, comfort, and support to families facing cancer.
