The Frolicking Divas were founded in the Summer of 2009 by Lisa Beth Dery and Lori Watt. Their first production was "Criminal Hearts" at the Havana Theatre in September 2009. In 2010 they co-produced Eve Ensler's "The Va**na Monologues" with Penny-A-Line Productions. It had successful performances at Spectral Theatre, the Wise Hall and the Massey Theatre in New Westminster. In March of 2012 they b
rought the female version of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple" to the Jericho Arts Centre and have been involved in many co-productions since. September 2014 in cooperation with TBA Theatre Company they presented Lascivious Something by Sheila Callaghan as part of the Fringe Festival's inaugural Drama Works Series. In January 2016 the Divas produced the first Canadian Production of "Heathers: the Musical". It was nominated for 2 Jessie Richardson Awards and Cast received 4 Ovation Award nominations. In 2017 they brought 'SUP - A Series of Sassy Unproduced Projects to the Havana. A staged reading format festival with 12 plays and 2 screenplays read over a period of 12 days. The two screenplays have since been filmed and are in circulation. In 2018 they returned to the Fringe Dramatic Works stage with David Lindsay-Abaire play Rabbit Hole, starring Chris Nowland, Lori Watt, Lesli Brownlee, Braden Lock and Linda Darlow. Directed by Nicky Andreton, this production was lauded in the press with a general call for a longer run of this exquisitely written story that explores how individuals manage their grief. The Divas continue to work on co-productions and other artistic endeavours.
