I'm preparing to show my Naveganças in São Paulo this April. 32 accordion-fold artist books I've painted over from my Books-of-the-Day archive, bringing work from the past into the now and then the future.
The problem today: how to hang them.
But then, digging through old archive folders looking for installation photos, I found this. 2000. Me on the floor of the gallery, sorting, pinning, solving. 64 pieces across two walls.
And then I remembered. A thin strip of wood along the wall for measuring the space and fine two-inch needles. Simple. Invisible. It held the pieces across the walls.
26 years later, same artist, same work, same problem. I am grateful that I always made time to maintain an archive.😀
