Hello,
It is with the saddest of hearts that we have to make this announcement; Newsies is cancelled (for the 2nd time) in May of 2021:(

Due to the unfortunate rise in COVID-19 numbers, an unknown vaccine date, an imminent Provincial curfew, as well as numerous other "pandemic related" problems, me must officially PULL THE PLUG on our Newsies production.

We have waited as long as we could (before we would have to pay royalties for a show we didn't do).

On behalf of the entire production committee, cast and crew, we want to extend our deepest thanks, sympathies and gratitude to the Brighton community’s support of Newsies; "the success that will never be seen". We truly believe, that had we performed in May of last year, Newsies quite possibly could have been THE MOST talked about Musical that ENSS has ever produced! Sadly, we will never know.

It goes without saying how disheartening it is to see/have sets, props, scrim images, costumes, blocking, songs, choreography, and smiles that will never be seen by an audience.

We wish everyone safety and health. ENSS looks forward to the day when we can fill the seats of our auditorium for another show. Today, we close the curtain on Newsies, but look forward to when we can open our doors to you all once again.

Please see the following post in regards for reimbursements of tickets from the original 2020 show dates.

"Reimbursement cheques have been completed for all the names that were available. Cheques are ready to be picked up at the ENSS Main Office. When coming to the school, come to the main doors (located beside the ENSS Garden of Hope), and ring the doorbell. You will need to have your ticket stubs from the previous purchase ready, and a mask to enter the school.

*It would be appreciated if you could call the ENSS Main Office at 613 475 0540, so that our Secretaries can inform you whether or not your cheque is prepared. If it is not prepared, we will collect your information, and organize a time for pick up."

Thank you to all for your flexibility and patience. Never having experienced this, we have all members of the ticket-sales team working extremely hard to remain organized and timely, while still adjusting to the ever-changing atmosphere within schools.

The ENSS Newsies Cast and Production team remains optimistic about a show in May of 2021, but are following guidelines from public health and will notify if any changes occur.

In lieu of that, we decided to bring you a virtual song as we prepare for our show in 2021. With the talent, and help of our Sound Director Mr. Colin Jagoe, we believe this video will bring a smile to your face. It sure brought one to ours. Stay safe, and enjoy!

In honour of how today was suppose to be our Opening Night Performance of 'Newsies', we thought we would share some photos from our last rehearsal on March 7th. This rehearsal was our first with the pit band. We are looking forward to our new opening night on May 6th, 2021!
