Freshly mordanted worsted weight alpaca cria yarn drying this morning 😌 My second yarn shipment hasn't come in so I haven't been able to dye yet, but I'm hoping to have things started by next week if the package is delivered before the holiday!

One of my favourite things is being able to say "I did all of it myself!". But I need to accept that I can't do EVERYTHING 😂 It would take me dozens of hours to get a pound of alpaca fleece washed, picked, carded, and spun. And I used to have the time for that- now I have too many things going on. So today I'm going through my washed and raw alpaca fibre to get it organized to be processed at 1852 Fibre Mill ! I can't wait to work with them and finally spin all of this 😊

Exciting news! My first shipment of commercial yarn has arrived 😊 This 100% alpaca cria yarn will be the start of a new branch of natural hand dyeing. As much as I want to process and spin and dye everything- it's not feasible for me, and it's not an affordable price range for customers. So, commercial from Canadian companies it is!

I'll be starting mordanting and dyeing asap and have applied to some Christmas markets to show it at. I'm also working on starting a "catalogue" site where I'll have all of my stock available to look at, and then be ordered through me via social media or email. If things go well enough, I'll start my own website! Etsy is just too expensive for everyone involved and no longer worth it.

I can't wait to share all of tbe fun new stuff I'll be trying out 😌

THANK YOU for another amazing Brighton Applefest !! It was wonderful to see and meet everyone 😊

I love these hats and made them for the festival, but none sold! They're 100% acrylic, machine wash delicate, and, as with most of my hats, fit from toddler - adult if you fold up the brim, and $25.

Let me know if you'd be interested in one!

THIS SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 26TH at Brighton Applefest come by the Elsey Knits booth across from the post office and trade your fibre scraps for earrings, stitch markers, or a % off finished recycled yarn scrap yarn!

We'll have handspun yarn, hand dyed yarn, deconstructed and plied sweater yarn, embroidery thread, jewelry, bag clips/keychains, batts for spinning yarn, and a variety of hand knit goods! Come say hi tomorrow 😊

So much yarn. So little sleep. What day is it? Right, two days before Brighton Applefest ! My booth will be across from the post office/apple lighthouse- come by and say hi and touch some really soft yarn. Hand dyed from my own garden on handspun and commercial yarn, embroidery thread, batts, hand knit items, and a show sale of 50% off select items!

Are you a fibre artist? Bring your scrap yarn or fibre to trade for stitch markers, earrings, or a percentage off a skein of handspun recycled yarn! Yarn scraps include cuttings after knitting or crocheting or weaving that are longer than 1"- any weight, any fibre! Leftover tiny balls of yarn, that odd bit of fibre you have left from spinning- I'll take it all and put it to good use!

I can't wait to see you all this weekend 😊
