This is the actual document from the residential school my grandmother and so many other children attended in Spanish Ontario.

I created this artwork over top of it .the last name on this list is 01203- the number giving to my grandmother. Cecilia noon
Claimed or not , spirit named or not, living culturally or not. It doesn’t make you ANY less then Others who have had the opportunity to experience those things.

I got my name , I don’t have my clan. I’m looking to form a relationship with an elder who can give me my clan. People love to tear down but never lift up. Miigwetch. My art is my truth . My spirit name is stands in truth

The turtle represents Truth (Debwewin) in the Seven Grandfather Teachings of the Anishinaabe,
Slow and Steady: The turtle moves with care and purpose. It reminds us to understand both our journey and our destination without rushing through life
