Naija Summer Fest.

09/13/2026

The true heart of the Naija Summer Fest 2026 Brandon was seeing our community gather across every generation. From elders and community leaders sharing stories to youth networking, dancing, and families relaxing together on the lawn, the event was a powerful reflection of unity, shared heritage, and social inclusion.

Watching folks from all walks of life exchange pleasantries, build new friendships, and take in the culture together made the atmosphere genuinely special.

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated volunteers, institutional partners, and sponsors for making this welcoming intergenerational space possible for everyone!

It was truly special to see our local leaders and community representatives fully immerse themselves in Naija Summer Fest 2026 at the Riverbank Discovery Centre.

We were honored to welcome:
- His Worship Mayor Jeff Fawcett (Mayor of Brandon)
- Hon. Glen Simard, MLA for Brandon East and Minister of Municipal and Northern Relations
- Wayne Balcaen MLA for Brandon West
- Colleen Robbins (MLA for Spruce Woods)
- Dr. Deborah-Zita Somakoko (President & Founder, Black Manitobans Chamber of Commerce)

They did not just deliver inspiring messages, they walked through the grounds, spent time speaking directly with attendees, and even hit the floor to dance alongside us! You could really feel the genuine connection, mutual respect, and shared joy in the air.

None of this would have been possible without our incredible sponsors, community partners, and passionate volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make everyone feel welcomed, connected, and celebrated.

Seeing generations come together under one sky was one of the most powerful parts of the day. Elders, parents, and youth dressed side-by-side, blending timeless traditional attire like Agbadas, Gele headwraps, and beads with stylish, modern cultural touches. It was a true reflection of our rich heritage, intergenerational connection, and the vibrant ethnocultural diversity that enriches our Manitoba community.

We extend our deep appreciation to all our sponsors, community partners, and volunteers. Your support enables programs that promote cross-cultural understanding, preserve cultural heritage, and strengthen community ties across generations.

Unforgettable Moments on the Main Stage

Standing near the stage while the Igbo and Yoruba cultural troupes performed, listening to spoken word poetry, and hearing the Rolling Thunder Singers was deeply moving. The blend of cultures and rhythm gave everyone goosebumps.

Thank you to the media outlets who joined us on-site to cover these powerful performances.
