The world was still mired in the Great Depression in 1935, but Bradford gained an enduring symbol of fun that year. The town's very first and only bowling alley, Bradford Bowl, was built. It was a welcomed addition for a small farming community. Over the years since, Bradford has grown in population and become one of the meccas for communters to the GTA. , Bradford Bowl offers bowling for seniors in the community Monday afternoons and a mixed league three nights a week. If you are looking for an activity for your child this fall, the Youth Bowling League (ages 3 to 19) is a great solution! The league runs Saturday mornings at 9:30 am, with 10 to 15 instructors on hand to help teach your child the very best in 5 pin bowling techniques. Tuesday nights are set aside for the Special Olympics and on average close to 60 players turn up to these evenings. Bradford Bowl is a popular spot for children's birthday parties or Jack and Jill celebrations, or charity group fundraisers. Our owner Sandi Dickson, now a 13-time Canadian champion, is always on hand to work with bowlers at every level. In 2009, when the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers Association prepared its list of the top 100 female bowlers in honour of the 100th anniversary of fivepin bowling, Sandi was included. Sandi remains active in the tournament scene, so you know you and your children are receiving the very best instruction at Bradford Bowl! In fact, in July 2013 she became the 2013 Canadian Open (Ladies Single) 5 Pin Champion! Sandi Dickson was inspired by both her parents, Betty and Tom Horton, who were very dedicated bowlers. Passing away in 1996, Sandi's father Tom Horton was inducted posthumously into the Ontario 5 Pin Bowlers Association Hall of Fame in the Builder’s Division in 1997.
