When I studied art, AI didn't exist. I learned to create with traditional methods and my own hands. Today, I'm adapting—learning new tools to work independently and bring my vision to life professionally.

Using AI and technology as a business tool doesn't diminish the artistry; it's simply one of the may ways of how I've chosen to evolve and try to adapt to a very different, modern and competitive world.

A Full-Day of Watercolour with The Artsy Thistle Where Creativity Blooms!

Two sessions one great day!!!!

Spend the day slowing down, creating, exploring, and discovering that watercolour is more magic than mystery.

No experience required — just bring your curiosity and a willingness to trust the process.

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

$125 + HST
Includes your own personal paint kit to take home!

☀️ Morning Session: Watercolour Foundations
Lisa will guide you through:

🎨 Basic colour mixing & understanding the colour wheel
💧 Basic water control techniques
🖌️ Basic layering, blending & creating texture
🌈 Building confidence with watercolour

Then we’ll put those skills into practice with a beautiful still-life watercolour painting.

🍴 Lunch Break

🌿 Afternoon Session: Let’s Go ARTdoors!!!
After lunch, we’re taking creativity outside to observe, sketch, gather inspiration, and create a nature-inspired watercolour artwork.

Please bring:
☀️ Sunscreen
🧢 Sun hat
💧 Water bottle
🪑 Chair or blanket — or both!
🥪 Lunch & snacks
🦟 Bug/tick spray

Outdoor Recommendation:
Guests are strongly encouraged to wear long pants, long sleeves, socks, and closed-toe shoes for the afternoon session.
This is recommended for comfort and safety while exploring outdoors — and because it’s tick season!

Come hang out for an outdoor oil pastel workshop where we’ll take it slow, enjoy the scenery, and turn the landscape into your own work of art.

Turn your favourite denim jacket into a one-of-a-kind wearable work of art!

Join me for a fun, relaxed, and beginner-friendly creative experience where I’ll guide you step-by-step through creating a beautiful painted Shasta Daisy design on your own denim.

You’ll learn layout tips, colour palette selection, practice before painting, and leave inspired to keep creating!

A Quick Update from The Artsy Thistle: Creativity Under Construction

Well… it turns out that breaking an ankle and being put in a cast comes with some very clear instructions — namely, “do not put weight on it.”

As many of you witnessed at our recent Hat Burning Afternoon, I briefly debuted my newest performance piece: “Bambi on Ice.” Safe to say… grace was not my strongest medium that day!

Since then, I’ve (mostly!) behaved and traded in my balancing act for something a little more productive — laptop planning mode. I’ve been busy behind the scenes mapping out upcoming workshops, from painting nights to crafts, jewelry pieces, and more creative goodness to fill our calendar.

Let’s just say… my ankle may be out of commission, but my imagination is working overtime.

I am truly so excited to get back to creating with all of you!

Over the coming days, I’ll be sharing sneak peeks of what The Artsy Thistle has in store — along with the months they’ll be offered.

Our local library the Tyendinaga Township Public Library is place that always brings a smile to my face. It’s so welcoming and whimsical. They work so hard to make this a special space. Thank you.

The Artsy Thistle had a great time at our library inviting guests from near and far to enjoy an afternoon of chat,
Laughter, learning and… well… burning a hat.
