🎨 Summer Dreaming Sunday

Nothing beats a relaxing art project to end the week. There’s something grounding about creating brush stroke by brush stroke, letting your mind wander while your hands stay busy.

Excited to be part of the mosaic mural project, set to be unveiled this June.

Looking forward to The Art of Belonging workshop with later today! Together, we’ll explore what it means to belong, express ourselves through art, and reflect on the kind of friends we want to have and be. 🎨

We’ll also be creating something special to share with younger kids to help them learn about healthy friendships too!

🎨 Do you ever catch yourself waiting until everything feels perfect before you share it with the world? I struggle with perfectionism, and the fear of being judged and failing. Perfectionism can hold us back from even trying, which limits our ability to create and connect.

Art can give us a safe space to practice letting go, but for me it’s also the place where that little voice shows up to tell me it’s “not good enough.” I’m working hard to embrace mistakes and keep experimenting, even if I’m not sure it will work out. Art helps me to see myself as a work in progress. Each step forward counts, even if it’s messy. 🫟

Progress, not perfection, helps us to build resilience and self-confidence.

What would you try if you didn’t have to do it perfectly?

🧩 I used to worry about bringing a fidget toy into meetings. I thought I might be judged as being unprofessional. But the truth is, fidgets help me stay present, grounded, and more able to participate.

Over time, I’ve learned that feeling safe enough to show up as my full self isn’t just a personal need. It’s also a strength in the workplace.

It’s encouraging to see more organizations creating safe spaces for people to self-regulate and support their mental well-being. When we allow others to show up as they are, we make room for more creativity, diversity, and real connection around the table.

What would it look like to see your inner world—your strengths, your stories, your struggles reflected back in a mini version of you? 👩‍🎨

This self-representational doll was my way of exploring that question. It’s not about creating something that looks exactly like me. Instead, it’s about expressing my values, humor, creativity, resilience, and being self-compassionate when examining the flawed parts of myself.

Through color, texture, and setting, I gave shape to the many layers of who I am - light and shadow, courage and sensitivity. The superhero cape and the quiet, remote landscape of the moon remind me that we can be bold and reflective at the same time.

When we make something as a symbolic version of self, we begin to see ourselves with new eyes. These kinds of creative explorations can offer distance, clarity, and compassion - inviting us to reflect, reimagine, and honour all parts of who we are.

🧐 What might your inner world look like if you gave it shape?

🎨 Ever wish you could zoom out and see your life as a whole story—twists, turns, plot points, and all?

That’s exactly what I did with this art reflection: a visual journey through early memories, proud moments, challenges, and unexpected detours that shaped who I am today. Yes, there’s even a spinner—because sometimes life is a game of chance!

As I reflected, I noticed the places I felt most alive and connected. Those clues pointed me to my signature strengths and reminded me of what helps me thrive. I also looked ahead, imagining the values and hopes I want to carry with me into the next chapter.

This kind of creative self-exploration isn't just fun—it can be really meaningful and helpful, especially in times when your life direction might be changing. Art-making and storytelling help us make sense of our experiences, reduce stress, and build a stronger sense of identity and possibility.

✨ Where have you been? What helps you thrive? And what path might you create next?

Wishing you peace, self-care, and moments of joy this holiday season. ✨
