We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting the World Premiere of "Canada Is", an all-Canadian musical r***e from the fabulous Belles, a tribute to Canadian musicians, songs, and everything that makes Canada unique.

The Belles—Kim Dafoe, Anita Halfpenny, and Susan McCourt—are educators who turned a COVID-era dream into a Quinte Region sensation. Specializing in a high-energy Broadway r***e and heartfelt Christmas shows, the trio has captivated sold-out audiences at iconic venues like the Empire Theatre, Westben, and right here at Theatre in The Wings.

Calling all writers in the Greater Bay of Quinte Region (Brighton, Quinte West, Belleville, Prince Edward County, Greater Napanee, and the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory). River & Main Theatre Company at Theatre in The Wings is now accepting submissions of original, un-produced plays for the First Annual Bay of Quinte Play Writing Competition!

This year's theme is “True Crime on the Bay of Quinte". The winning entries will be brought to life in a rehearsed staged reading in November 2026 at Theatre in The Wings. There's going to be plenty of material for writers to choose from...from daring robberies and gruesome murders to the notorious Bay of Quinte rumrunners to Trenton’s rash of chicken thefts in March of 1936.

Cash Prizes for Winners!
1st Prize: $250
2nd Prize: $150
3rd Prize: $100

Deadline to submit your script is October 4, 2026 at 6:00 pm. There is no cost to enter. Writers can submit up to three scripts.
Plays must run no longer than one hour. Scripts must be submitted in digital format, either PDF or MS Word. All other document formats will not be accepted. Send scripts as email attachments to: [email protected]

AUDITION ALERT: We're gearing up for The Third Annual Theatre in The Wings Canadian National 10-Minute Play Festival. It's always a favourite with audiences...and with actors as well. Auditions are May 24th from 2:00pm to 5:00 pm and May 25 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Everyone is welcome. No experience required. Just show up. 10-Minute plays are a great way to find your stage legs.
