We would like to invite you to join Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin and Barrie Native Friendship Centre for Wampum Belt Teachings with Leroy Jock Hill on Friday, February 9th, 2024, from 1:00pm – 3:00pm.
Hohahes Leroy Jock Hill is Haudenosaunee of the Cayuga Nation and Bear Clan. He is a Faithkeeper and Sub-Chief. He has been married for 34 years, has 5 children and 11 grandchildren. He is a sanctioned speaker of The Great Law of Peace and Gaihwiyo. He is a speaker of 3 Haudenosaunee languages and is one of the Wampum/Record Keepers for the Haudenosaunee. He has helped develop and remains an advisor for numerous language programs. As well, he is a cultural advisor to numerous departments and organizations at Six Nations and surrounding communities. Also, Leroy is a Professor of Indigenous Knowledge (2013) and worked as Co-Instructor of Indigenous Studies at McMaster University. He assisted with an Indigenous Law Course at the University of Windsor, as well as assists with the “People of the Longhouse” course at Wilfred Laurier University. He currently works as Coordinator for the Haudenosaunee Resource Centre.
We will be providing light refreshments throughout the afternoon.
