Ever seen those funky edges where paint spreads out with a burst?

That’s called a bloom and you can create it on purpose.

It is one of those happy accidents that turns into something magical.

Try this -
• Paint a big juicy shape with watery color
• While it’s still wet, dab in clean water or more paint
• Watch it spread and make a fun fuzzy edge all by itself

Today we observe Day; a day to reflect and pay respect to all the families of missing and murdered indigenous women, girls and two spiruted souls who disappear and die daily in Canada.

While they represent only 4% of all women in Canada, Indigenous women make up 37% (44 out of 119 women) of homicides perpetrated against women. Aboriginal women are more than three times as likely to be a victim of male’s partner violence in Canada than non-Aboriginal women. StatCan found Indigenous women and girls were killed at a rate six times higher than that of women and girls who were not Indigenous.

The Red Hand Mark (covering the mouth) is a common use of body art as education or protest; in this case representing the silence surrounding this issue and the lack of voice many in the community feel they have had.

It is not a costume, a fun-dress up element or social media trend.

Today Blue Eyed Daisy stands in solidarity with the Indigenous Women fighting for their voice, their daughters, themselves and their safety in this country.
