Hello friends and fans of Peter. Thank you so much for your amazing support these past two months purchasing art and sending donations to support Peter in his health journey. A legion of friends and neighbours have been kept very busy by all the orders. The wave of outreach has had a huge impact of Peter, both in terms of financial support but also emotional support, knowing how many loving friends and followers are out there. He sends his infinite gratitude.

What follows is an update on Peter's health journey and will be hard news to digest. Please come back to this post when you are ready to receive the difficult update.

In May, we shared the news that Peter was having some vision and cognitive challenges that forced him to leave his studio in Wells and take up residence with his family in the Okanagan while undergoing medical assessment. The resulting scans revealed a brain tumour. In June, Peter underwent a craniotomy to remove what the surgeon could of the tumour, which proved to be quite extensive. Unfortunately, Peter has been diagnosed with glioblastoma - an aggressive and terminal form of cancer. Think Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip. It's that cancer.

Peter is with his family in the Okanagan recovering from his surgery and doing his best to rest and follow doctors' orders to regain his strength for a radiation and chemotherapy program in the near future. Peter is not wallowing in his diagnosis, but rallying to recover and regain some quality of life so that he can see out his goal of returning to Wells to carry out his work. He has has visions and goals, not sorrows and regrets.

Peter is 100% Peter: vibrant, joking, and full of memories, stories and plans. He is eating well, sleeping well, and in no pain. The tumour is most affecting his mobility. He requires a great deal of assistance to go about his daily routine. His vision and dexterity are limited. Because of this, he does not use his cell phone much. Peter's long-time friend and colleague will join his sister and father in the family home to provide caregiver support alongside the support of his medical team.

Peter has asked us to continue with his art sales. Our team here in the Cariboo will continue operating Peter's studio to provide him with what he needs right now: financial support for his needs and help for his family caregivers to provide round-the-clock care through weeks and months of aggressive cancer treatment and progression.

We are also assisting with connecting Peter with friends who wish to reach out. Opportunities for phone calls are limited at this time, but we encourage you to send emails to Peter at [email protected] - we will print these emails off in a format that adapts to his vision challenges and mail them to him, so he can read them directly. We will do our best to answer question privately through this channel as well. We are all digging deep to make this last chapter exactly how he envisions it.

With love, care, and gratitude,
Peter's Pals
