When Hope Breaks Through - Richard Cole

Artist in attendance: Saturday, November 8, 12 PM – 4 PM

In this collection, Richard Cole explores how light moves through the landscape — how it softens distance, reveals quiet beauty, and brings a sense of renewal to familiar places.

Created in a time of uncertainty, the collection reflects on moments when hope breaks through: a clearing sky, a glow after rain, the stillness that follows a passing storm. Nature, like us, is fragile and ever-changing. The weather can shift in an instant, yet balance always finds its way back.

When Hope Breaks Through is a reflection on resilience and light — a quiet reminder to pause, breathe, and notice the strength that exists within the landscape and within ourselves.

We are pleased to share that our Feature Artist for November is Chelsea McDonald !

Chelsea is a local painter who, in the month of September, painted a still life every day, resulting in her collection 'Paintings from Life: 30 Days of September'. This show encapsulates these paintings, from familiar mountains to every day objects to capturing our sunny autumn days.

'Paintings from Life: 30 Days of September' will hang in our front entryway until the end of the month, and Chelsea will be holding a Meet the Artist Night on Saturday, November 15th at 5:15PM (after the Library closes for the day).

Thank you Chelsea for sharing your work with us!

📚 Together We Read begins today, and runs until November 18th!

, a digital book club connecting readers to the same e-book and audiobook with no waitlist or holds, starts today (November 4th). The feature title is 'Denison Avenue' by Daniel Innes and Christina Wong.

A poignant meditation on loss, aging, gentrification, and the barriers that Chinese Canadian seniors experience in big cities, 'Denison Avenue' beautifully combines visual art, fiction, and the endangered Toisan dialect to create a book that is truly unforgettable.
