Our Ladies Daytime Leagues are almost back.

And honestly, these ladies are bad ass.

Three games.
Coffee in hand.
Great banter.
A little friendly competition.
Then usually off to lunch afterward.

Tuesday Ladies League
Starts September 15 at 10:30 a.m.

Thursday Ladies League
Starts September 17 at 9:00 a.m.

$15 cash each week
$2 shoe rental
Shoe rentals are FREE until Thanksgiving weekend.

Come solo.
Bring a friend.
Bring the golf ladies as summer rolls into fall.

Retired? Shift worker? Have your mornings free? This could be your crew.

A little “summer is almost over.”
A little “HOW is it already back-to-school time?”

See the same faces every week. Laugh together. Cheer each other on. Chirp someone for missing an easy spare. Ask how their week went. Become part of a team.

That’s one of our favourite things about league bowling.

Another summer in the books! The past few months we've been lucky to have Camp Wanago groups visit us every Friday afternoon.

These kids - as well as all the other Camp Wanago campers - were terrific all summer long, and even if some weren't the biggest fans of bowling (no judgement, I wasn't either, till we bought a bowling centre🤭) they always found a way to have fun on their visits with dancing, singing, games, puzzle, artwork and more.

20 years ago, I would have thought you were insane if you told me I'd ever be operating a bowling centre... today I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

There's no better work than preserving an activity space where people just come to have fun, relax, laugh and cheer.

Thanks Camp Wanago Campers! You weren't difficult to "put up with", at all. 👍
Looking forward to seeing you all again next summer, and no, I won't stop telling you kids to save your money for more important things than our canteen candy!

“A tiny slice of perfection in Arnprior.”

Perfection might be a stretch, but we’ll take it.

Clearly, this family of six did not get the haunted lane. That one gets weird, has a mind of its own and is committed to keeping us humble.

Tiny slice of perfection? Maybe.

Tiny slice of beautiful, quirky and slightly unhinged bowling history? Absolutely.

This review made our entire day:

“INCREDIBLE! Unique, beautiful, charming, and fun! This wasn’t just another round of bowling. Steelheads and Strikes is Canada’s oldest bowling alley dating back to the 1930s, and the owners have preserved pieces of its history, from the 1990s screens to the reception desk featuring the original flooring. Our family of six had so much fun, and we weren’t expecting this tiny slice of perfection in Arnprior. This place is a MUST to visit and enjoy a round of five-pin!”

LEAGUE NIGHTS ARE BACK.

Starting the week of September 15th, the lanes get loud again.

TUESDAY: Waitlist open
WEDNESDAY: Open spots
THURSDAY: Open spots

Our league season runs September 15th to April 30th, which means months of having an actual reason to get out of the house once a week.

Bring your besties.
Bring your spouse.
Bring the person you’ve been dating long enough that you should probably have a shared hobby by now.
Bring your cousin who gets weirdly competitive.
Bring your work mate who talks a big game in the lunchroom.
Bring your neighbour.
Bring your sibling.
Bring your band. Bowling league feels like excellent band bonding.
Bring the parents from the hockey rink.
Bring the group chat that desperately needs to become an actual social life.

Or bring yourself.

You can register as a team or come in as an individual and we’ll help get you connected.

You do not need to be good.

You just need to be willing to show up, throw some balls, chirp your friends appropriately, and have somewhere fun to be on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night.

Final Sunday of summer vibes at the lanes.

We’re open, the tunes are playing, the weird drinks are cold, and there’s still time to sneak in one more summer bowling day.

12 PM: 3 lanes left
1 PM: 4 lanes available
2 PM: 4 lanes available
3 PM: 1 lane left

These final summer days are disappearing fast. Come bowl a few frames, request your favourite questionable song, grab a weird drink from the canteen, and enjoy one more lazy Sunday at Steelheads & Strikes.

“We will definitely be back!”

Well, this one made our day.

We had the pleasure of welcoming a before-and-after-school group to Steelheads & Strikes today, and they left us this absolutely lovely review:

“We had such a wonderful experience at Steelheads & Strikes this afternoon with our before-and-after-school children!

A huge thank you to Mr. Matthew, the owner, for being so welcoming and accommodating to our group. The children had an amazing time bowling, and it was wonderful to see how much fun they were having from start to finish.

We especially loved that there are plenty of fun and engaging toys and activities for the children to enjoy while waiting for their turn. This made the experience even more enjoyable and kept everyone entertained. The children also absolutely loved the music playlist. There was lots of singing, dancing, and smiling throughout the afternoon!

It was such a fun outing for our group, and we truly appreciate the kindness, generosity, and effort that went into making our visit so special.

Summers are always a funny little thing around here.

We’ve only got four lanes, and when it’s 30°C outside, we know we’re competing with the beach.

So, a little summer bowling PSA:

Reservations are required if you want to guarantee your bowling time.

BUT... if you drive by and see the giant bowling flag flying, that means I (Matt) am in. The door is open. Come say hi and see if we’ve got a lane!

And yes, we have AC. One of the best investments we made a few years ago. It means we can keep this beautiful old bowling alley rolling 12 months of the year, even when Arnprior is melting outside.
