Thank you to the Town of New Glasgow for their support of the gallery’s upcoming 50/50 exhibition, marking the gallery’s 50th anniversary with 50 artworks by 50 artists - community engagement is at the centre of the gallery’s operations!

The Town of New Glasgow is proud to support the St. Francis Xavier University Art Gallery’s 50/50 Exhibition with a $500 grant in celebration of the gallery’s 50th anniversary.

The exhibition will feature 50 artworks by 50 artists from Antigonish, Pictou, and Guysborough Counties, celebrating creativity, community, and the gallery’s lasting impact on arts and culture in our region.

The exhibition opens to the public on July 9, 2026, and will remain on view until September 19, 2026.

🙌 We’re hiring! The StFX Art Gallery is looking to hire a recent graduate for its 2026-27 Curatorial Internship!

Working closely with the Director, the Intern will play a key role in the gallery’s administration and delivery of programming. First, they will assist in curatorial planning, installation, and programming for the exhibitions in the 2026-27 academic year. Interns will be given the opportunity to work on exhibition planning and design (online and in the gallery), curatorial writing, and public programming. Second, they will help manage the documentation, organization, storage, conservation, and preservation of the permanent collection.

Candidates must have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution and ideally demonstrate interest in the cultural sector. Priority will be given to recent graduates of St. Francis Xavier University.

This position is funded by the Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage Program and St. Francis Xavier University.

$25.00 per hour, 7 hrs per day, 35 hours per week, 30.5 weeks beginning Sept. 1, 2026, and ending Mar. 31, 2027.

As the 2025–26 exhibition season has come to a close, the StFX Art Gallery is pleased to share this reflective video celebrating a year of exhibitions, artist talks, workshops, community gatherings, and creative exchange.

This past year brought together artists, students, faculty, staff, and visitors from across the region and beyond through exhibitions and programming that explored memories, materialities, ecologies, identities, storytelling, and connections.

Thank you to ALL the artists, collaborators, funders, sponsors, students, volunteers, and visitors whose ongoing support and engagement continue to make the gallery a vital cultural space at StFX and within the broader community.

We had a great turnout last night for the opening reception of our 2026 Student Showcase! Thank you to everyone who came out in support, the for their hard work with the students this year, and all of our student artists for providing such lovely works for our show!

The Student Showcase will be on display in the gallery until May 3, before to stop by and check it out!
