What a summer. ❤️

Here’s a glimpse of just some of the many people, rehearsals, backstage moments, friendships, hard work, laughter, and community that made our 39th season possible. From the first days of rehearsal through the final curtain, this summer was built by an extraordinary collection of artists, technicians, staff, volunteers, supporters, partners, audiences, and friends.

Now, the Bauer Theatre closes its doors to the public for the coming months as an important period of construction begins, and our Festival Antigonish staff will soon take a very well-earned administrative break.

It feels like a good moment to remember something important:

The bricks and mortar give us a place to reside.
The people make it a home.

To everyone who gave their talent, time, energy, generosity, encouragement, applause, and heart to Festival Antigonish this summer — thank you.

You made this season.

You make this theatre.

And you remind us, year after year, what can happen when a community comes together around live performance.

A new chapter for arts and culture in Antigonish has begun.

Last night, closing night at the Bauer — just before the theatre closes for major retrofit construction — Festival Antigonish and Antigonish Culture Alive formally signed an MOU to move the Antigonish Arts Centre Project forward together.

The vision is bigger than a new theatre or gallery. It is about creating a welcoming, year-round place for performance, visual arts, music, dance, film, learning, mentorship, creativity and community life.

FAST and ACA are stepping forward as Founding Partners to help steward the work — and to invite many more voices into shaping what comes next.

A place to create, gather and belong.

This Sunday at 7:30 PM is the final performance of Beyond the Sea by Kristen da Silva and a milestone for the Bauer and for the Arts in Antigonish. Join Festival Antigonish, Antigonish Culture Alive, fellow patrons, and arts advocates as we celebrate.
