Continuing to build upon the Town of Amherstburg's current momentum as a great place to live and visit. The 2024 Amherstburg Art Crawl is an in-person event, built on the successes of the 2023 AArt Crawl, created to celebrate the arts in the importance it has in the community. Developed by the Art Amherstburg Society, a Not-for-profit organization dedicated to championing the arts (visual, music,

dance) in Amherstburg and surrounding communities. The Art Amherstburg Society consists of a dedicated group of volunteers, comprising talented local artists and passionate community builders.

There’s something special about watching a piece of art come to life in real time.

This Saturday afternoon during Art Crawl Amherstburg, visitors can watch plein air artists in action as they take part in the Plein Air Art Competition. Artists will be set up outdoors, capturing the beauty, character, and atmosphere of Amherstburg as it unfolds around them.

From the waterfront and historic streets to the charm of downtown, each artist will bring their own perspective to the canvas - and you’re invited to wander, watch, and experience the creative process up close.

Ever heard the term “plein air” and wondered what it means?

Plein air painting simply means creating art outdoors, surrounded by the subject, light, movement, and atmosphere of the moment. Instead of painting from a photo or inside a studio, artists take their easels outside and capture the scene as it unfolds in real time.

During Art Crawl Amherstburg, artists will be doing just that as part of the Plein Air Art Competition - bringing our streets, waterfront, architecture, and community to life through their own creative lens.

Come wander, watch the process, and see Amherstburg become the canvas.
