On June 5, 1995, one of the most unique RPGs ever made landed on the Super Nintendo: EarthBound!

Instead of saving a fantasy kingdom with swords and magic, you played as Ness and his friends battling evil aliens, possessed taxis, angry hippies, and other wonderfully weird enemies in a modern-day world. It was quirky, hilarious, and completely different from just about every RPG available at the time.

Fun Fact: EarthBound originally struggled to find a large audience in North America, but over the years it became a cult classic and is now considered one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Its humor, charm, and emotional storytelling have inspired countless games, including Undertale!

Another fun fact? The game's famous slogan was "This game stinks!" and it even came packaged with a giant strategy guide. Definitely one of the strangest marketing campaigns in gaming history!
