Good morning member. It is that time of year again the SAMU elections.

Polls are open today and so it is time to post our endorsements for how the club is encouraging, BUT NOT FORCING people to vote. You are free and encouraged to look things up and make your own decision, but this is what the club leadership believes are the best decisions from the clubs perspective.
President: No vote (as in voting no on the single candidate)

The reasoning here is quite simple. Ryley has failed to reach out to any of the clubs during the entire process and even failed to answer a question on the AMA yesterday calling her out on this. So we asked ourselves how can we trust someone who can not even be bothered to reach out to represent our interests. A simple note to those who know Ryley and may seek to defend her, we are aware of all she does, but that doesn't excuse the complete radio silence on the AMA page and failure to reach out to club

At this time Ryley has responded to my AMA question about he lack of reaching out to clubs admitting that she has failed to plan her campaign accordingly. We still however stand by our no vote.

Vice President Student Life: Yes vote

In speaking with Aubrianna we found that she very much cares about the students and student clubs. She was even the first person to reach out. She is very welcoming of feedback from the clubs and wants to see changes for the betterment of clubs. However if any negative thing can be said it is that she never showed us any breaking point, she agreed with everything we said and I think will find herself overwhelmed in the early days of taking the position.

Vice President External" Yes vote

Cole came extremely prepared for our meeting and has a skill that is very import to the position she holds. She was able to answer every question we asked her weather they were related to her platform or position quickly and with great confidence. Simply put, while we have concerns that Cole might fall into a pitfall of spending too much time about an issue she was very passionate about (getting international student tuition hikes tied to cpi just like local students) we believe she has the skills needed to do great things for the students in this position.

Vice President Ops and Finance: Andrea Turner

This was the one actual race that we will take an opinion on this election. I really like to say this it was a hard choice, but this year the choice was made for us. Only one candidate reached out, and that was Andrea. The other candidate Jeanette when asked why she reached out said that she only reached out to clubs where she already had friends. This is something that is to us, and as it turns out a few other clubs who were watching the AMA simply unacceptable.
Voting is done either via email, or via MacEwans main portal (I dont know anymore they change it each time. It should open at 10am today and go till 4pm tommrow)

For those not in the know, the Video Games Club has been moved from Thursday to Friday. We will be meeting in room 7-185 from 11am to 4pm and Fridays weekly from now on.

It is that time of the year, that's right club officially starts again for the year this upcoming week! (among other less important things =P)

Good day everyone,

It is election time (please vote Wednesday or Thursday) So here are our endorsements and reasoning.

Vote online though the MacEwan portal.

*All decisions were made by popular vote on a 3 member cross disciplinary committee

President: Yes vote on Parvin.
She actively campaigned, being one of the first to reach out to clubs and was on time and knowledgeable in her meeting. We are interested to see how Parvin transitions from the external profile to the president position.

Vice President External: Yes vote on Andrew.
Not much justification to be had here.

VP Academic: WE encourage you to make your own informed decisions here.

Vice President Ops and finance: Luis Ruiz
This one was almost a difficult decisions, we were split and unable to come to a conclusion until almost the end of campaigning despite how early we communicated with the candidates. Emma knows the portfolio and is very approachable but her lack of club knowledge leads to misunderstanding and misrepresenting the issues that face clubs. Luis in this matter wins because he both understands the economic implications and understand how clubs are effected.

Vice President Student Life: Tansy Spyker.
Another difficult decision, but in the end we chose Tansy due to our experience with what is and is not possible in SAMU (both financially and policy wise). Bruce has great ideas but some of them are outside the realm of possible in a singular term.
