Hey everyone i'm sure by now you've heard about the devastation caused by the fire that destroyed the town of Lytton. I've received word that all community members we know are safe and were able to evacuate. However because of fast the fires spread through town a lot of people have lost everything and have nothing to go back too. A few people are collecting supplies to help folks who've been displaced. A good punk community puts aside their differences to take care of each other.

Crystal Fujita will be at No Frills on Marshall rd. (near the old Greyhound station) on sunday at 3pm for anyone who wants to drop off donations. Mac and Crystal have done a lot for the Abbotsford punk scene. This is their community that they're doing what they can to help. If you enjoyed your time at the Fun Haus show them some support.

If you live in Vancouver or most points in the lower mainland. There is 2 drivers driving out to do supply drops. One is meeting up with Crystal on sunday and 1 taking supplies to Chilliwack. For more info on this get a hold of Noelle from Chaos Disorder And Panic.

If you'd rather stay home and drop money in a gofundme here's a great one to support. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-jory-family-recover-from-the-lytton-fire?utm_campaign=p_lico%20share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer&fbclid=IwAR1LcBZ1hM7IxFmYwc72QI_QpdVEA2YbgdwcMz_Oilcf9AdDOjQdhA9StSA

At this time they need:
Food preferably non perishable. Pet food too probably.

Phone chargers - right now there's been a lot of communication and networking over the internet.

hygiene and toiletries

toys and activities for kids.

Pretty much anything that would be useful to folks who've lost pretty much everything. . The smoke is probably quite bad too so dust masks are probably a good present. Don't give clothes they no longer need anymore clothes.

For those that are friends with Robyn and Emma Jory you may be aware o… Andrew Kovar needs your support for Help the Jory family recover from the Lytton fire

We project by New Years that we may be ready to host indoor shows again. Who knows. We will PROBABLY be able to do an outdoor show at some point before Canada Day maybe? Would y’all wanna see these folks play, or maybe someone else you can suggest here?

Looking forward to being this close to one another again in the lowest rate motel room we can find an hour outside of some major city, maybe 2022? Excited to release something new next week but until then enjoy Reuben's beautiful smile :)

Still no shows yet. The Zuckerbox suggested Carport needed an update though, so... maybe we can start calling it the Zuckorithm? Thoughts?

Copy and pasted:

A statement from the group behind the Brenda Falk Accountability Petition:

We read BC-CTV’s recent story about our petition demanding accountability from City of Abbotsford Councillor Brenda Falk with tremendous disappointment.

First, we note that although the reporter reached out to Brenda Falk for a statement, they did not solicit ours. This story is not truly representative of our core aim, which is to ask for true anti-racist leadership from Falk and the City of Abbotsford.

Remember, when a Councillor’s business account follows accounts disparaging BIPOC and valorizing N**i history, we deserve an explanation. When that same business account makes a statement that is tremendously hurtful to BIPOC—even if that hurt was unintended—we deserve a statement of the concrete actions its owner will take to repair the wrong. When Brenda Falk silenced, blocked, and dismissed her critics—especially BIPOC—we all deserved better.

The BC-CTV story failed to highlight the behaviour that most motivated our petition. Namely: her ongoing silencing, blocking, and dismissing of BIPOC voices, and her business account’s extremely troubling history of following racist accounts. Why did the reporter not understand the relevance of these facts? Why was all of the above reduced to one phrase: “a backlog of evidence”?

Furthermore, Falk’s statement that "I believe we need to focus on working together to solve these issues and not on fanning the flames of outrage and division" is yet another insidious silencing of BIPOC. Equating robust criticism of her lack of accountability with “fanning the flames of outrage and division” is a way of depicting her critics as a conflict-hungry mob. That is not who we are. Prior to our petition, when we delivered a letter asking for a statement of the anti-racist actions she and her business would take, we expressed a desire to enter into true community with her. And true community is only possible through accountability.

Was Falk trying to “focus on working together to solve these issues” when she blocked us? Silenced us? Refused to even dignify our letter inviting her to enter into true community with us with a response?

We don’t want to be misunderstood or misrepresented. We simply want an actionable anti-racism plan rom Falk, Mayor Henry Braun, and City Council that goes beyond the platitudes we’ve seen. And when we see this plan, we would be all too happy to “focus on working together”, by providing feedback and guidance. Because you do need this from BIPOC, City of Abbotsford. Whether you know it or not.

Hey everyone, shows are quiet for the holidays, but in the meantime, there’s 20 hours worth of musical and talk content coming out half from touring acts across the country with awards and followings and all that, and half from bands that basically play carport all the time! So please spend some time, either checking out the quick videos, or downloading the full podcasts with extended interviews and performances. Get to know the artists that play here and in the community, it’s a pretty cool thing to engage with since we know we’re gonna start seeing each other again at shows in the new year. Listen, share and enjoy!

With the Real Entertainment, Creating Open Radio Dialogue Impacting New Groups (RECORDING) Project, funded by the Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC) CIVL organized live visits to its studio that emerging local Fraser Valley artists to be showcased alongside higher-profile touring artists.
