✨Exactly one year ago these days was the First Rovdo International Choral Competition, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the professor of choral art, known in many parts of the world.
⭐️😍68 choirs from 7 countries of the world took part in the competition! Big time, right?!

Роўна год таму ў гэтыя дні прайшоў Першы міжнародны харавы конкурс імя В.В. Роўды, прымеркаваны да 100-годдзя прафесара харавога мастацтва, вядомага ў шмат якіх кутках зямлі.

✨У конкурсе ўзяло ўдзел 68 харавых калектываў з 7 краін свету! Маштабна атрымалася, ці не так?!😍⭐️

Вспоминаем факты из жизни профессора Виктора Ровдо

Vilna period (pre-war)

🎶 In autumn 1929 Victor Rovdo together with his elder brother Anatoly entered the Vilna Theological Seminary. It provided excellent education and the right to enter any higher education institution. Latin and Greek were taught at a very high level. German, Polish and Belarusian languages were taught by living native speakers. The whole life of seminarians was surrounded by singing.
🔖 In autumn 1936, when Victor Rovdo was almost 15 years old, the rector of the seminary gave him a canton and appointed him a regent.
🔖 In autumn 1938, the seminarians received an invitation from Grigory Shirma to come to his choir. At that time G. Shirma headed the choir of Belarusian students and the choir of regents of Vilna churches, taught singing in the Belarusian gymnasium and regent in Prechistensky Cathedral. In the choir Victor Rovdo met his future wife Sofia Antonovna Voevodskaya (15 years later they got married).
🔖 At the end of 30-s the Polish authorities decided to close the educational institution. Each year one class was liquidated, and the 1939-1940 academic year was the last one in existence of the seminary.
🔖 The Soviet authorities did not recognize the seminary diploma. In 1940, Victor Rovdo had to enter the last grade of the men's gymnasium in Vilnius. Here, in 1941, he received his matriculation certificate, and with it - the right to enter any higher secular educational institution. The mother of the future conductor Stefanida Rovdo really wanted to see her children as doctors. In those years Victor was also attracted by such a career, but he did not have time to enter the medical faculty.
🔖The Germans entered Vilnius. The Great Patriotic War began.

🎉3 сентября состоялась дружеская встреча организаторов и победителей Rovdo International Choral Competition.

🔔Мы говорили о «закулисье», рассказывали о подготовке конкурса, вспоминали яркие моменты и делились впечатлениями.
🔔Состоялось вручение памятных статуэток победителям категорий (статуэтки, выполненные фирмой Консулат-ф https://konsulat.by/, со знаменитой бабочкой, своеобразной визитной карточкой маэстро).
К большому сожалению, была возможность пригласить лишь участников из Минска :(
Но мы верим, что в будущем мы сможем организовать совместные междугородние и даже международные встречи!💪🏻

Months, days, hours of waiting and preparation for the Competition have come to a beautiful end! 🎉💥🎉💥

It was a great joy for us, the organizers of Rovdo International Choral Competition , to see that such bright, such professional and such different choirs sent applications for the I Rovdo International Choral Competition named after the great Belarusian Conductor!

For three days in May, we listened, watched, learned, experienced, and ADMIRED!👩‍💻💻👨‍💻
The repertoire is performed, the results are announced.🥇🥈🥉

We tried to preserve the competitive spirit that hovers at choral competitions in real life, to create an atmosphere of choral celebration!

We sincerely express our gratitude to all the participating conductors and choirs for the opportunity to admire your voices, your emotions!🎶🎵🎶

We admire the knowledge, experience and goodwill of our best jury members! Thank you, Romāns Vanags , Alena Pyne , Andrei Savritski , Hirvo Surva , Tom Shelton , Alexander Solovyev , for sharing your precious time and knowledge with us!👏👏👏
