Rock The Nation is an annual Live Rock Music Talent Showcase (Concert ) in Botswana, Africa. At RTN, we are genre specific, Rock Music and rock music only.

Our mission is to expose the Botswana Rock music scene both nationally and internationally. We highlight the existence & excellence of the local rock/metal bands. For the The Botswana Rock scene

RTN aims to elevate the visibility of rock music in Botswana. The initiative is devoted to building awareness on existing local bands and create opportunities for them and to raise the profile of Botswana

’s rock music scene. RTN seeks to partner with local musicians, arts organizations, venues and locally and internationally owned businesses to create performance opportunities and new avenues for local rock music exploration. The goal is to give rock music artists an opportunity to perform before a live audience. We will continue to inspire, support and share the talents of the many independent local rock music artists who are fameless but not speechless. We will always endeavor to make those whose music is waiting to be heard to reach an audience.

Our Story

For the The Botswana Metal scene RTN aims to elevate the visibility of rock music in Botswana. The initiative is devoted to building awareness and creating opportunities for local musicians and to raise the profile of Botswana’s local rock music scene. RTN seeks to partner with local musicians, arts organizations, venues and locally owned businesses to create performance opportunities and new avenues for local music exploration. RTN’S mission is genre specific, Rock Music. The goal is to give rock music artists an opportunity to perform before a live and national audience. RTN aims to inspire, support and share the talents of the many independent artists who are fameless but not speechless & whose music is waiting to be heard. RTN Strategic Overview

RTN is dedicated to the growth and development of metal music knowledge, appreciation and artistry. Operating in Letlhakane, RTN supports local metal artists and hosts an annual festival involving national and internationally known acts. In 2017, Dust n Fire, through RTN, undertook a planning process that confirmed the following as key elements of its long term strategic outlook.

To be the source of Inspiration,Promotion ,Connection and Engagement for Botswana and Africa’s Rock Music Bands through the power of Live Music performance.

Mission

To create meaningful connections between artists and audiences by offering an annual Rock Music festival.

Guiding Principles, Beliefs, and Values

Activities and projects of RTN & Dust n Fire band are guided by the following values, beliefs and principles. RTN community is an enduring community: This is defined by the following:

A group of individuals united under RTN Fest that shares a love of music and the relationships it helps create.

An abiding respect for people, land and culture: We treat each other with respect and kindness, accepting differences and nurturing both personal and collective growth. A spirit of environmental responsibility is central to all our activities.

The importance of Rock music: Above all else, Rock music is ‘the glue' that binds the Cooperative and unites its members. Metal Music is our top priority.

The development and promotion of our local Bands: The support and promotion of local artists is important to us. We also believe in supporting local businesses and organizations.

Relationship building: Build an enduring community by Coming Together annually as one metal family.Build Musical Networks for local bands by Inviting bands from outside our borders to share music and space.

Consistent promotion of artistic growth and creativity: We work together to foster an environment that invites learning and growth for local and African bands.

Accountability: We are developing a quality music Concert rooted in effective planning and implementation processes. We are responsible for RTN.

Celebration: We have fun and celebrate with each other. We welcome guests and do all we can to ensure their visit is enjoyable and entertaining.

Strategic Goals

1) To celebrate metal music and the African Metal Community

2) To create meaningful connections between cultures, community groups, artists ,bands and audiences

3) To enable the cultivation and growth of local music and artistic talent

4) To enrich the local metal scene and quality of life by bringing global musical acts to Botswana

5) To play a role in building musical and artistic infrastructure to Botswana

RTN volunteers are learning by doing. Throughout its existence RTN has helped to hone the skills of performers, stage managers, sound and lighting technicians, and photographers. Our teams are comprised of well-matched volunteers who are eager to challenge themselves and grow.
