THE TRANS-KALAHARI TOUGH 21 (TKT21) 🏜️🏃🏾‍♂️🔥

Words cannot fully describe the joy and pride of the TKT21 organisers 🙌🏽❤️. Runners from different clubs truly showed up and showed out — you came through for this maiden edition!

From the very first incline at Mmakgodumo ⛰️, you could feel the energy immediately — these runners were ready for war 😤💪🏽.
The second incline tested patience, lungs and faith 😮‍💨😂. Slower runners had a real conversation with themselves, but the elites? Yoh! 😅

Ba ne ba sa tlotle bo rraetsho le tlholego ya bona — they cruised like it was flat ground 🚀. Our roving water point tried its best, but even it couldn’t keep up! 💦🏃🏾‍♂️💨

The 17km and 12km warriors were also deep in the mix — panting, gasping, questioning life choices and asking “ke tlile fano jang?” 🤣😩

But grit and tenacity kicked in 💥 — they pushed through and conquered the route like true champions 🏅👏🏽.

Then came Matlhabanelo Incline 😈⛰️ — BRUTAL.
It forced many to walk, pause, and respect the natural architecture 😅🙏🏽. Kanye ga se bonno boetelo — this land demands respect!
And just when you thought it was over… Goora Montshiwa 😮‍🔥💔 — short, sharp and straight through the soul.
Cloudy skies ☁️ but bodies dripping with sweat 💦 — no mercy!

Despite the savage terrain, many top runners clocked sub-2. ⏱️🔥, with our first finisher storming home in 1:35 🥇💨. Absolute class!

🗣️ FEEDBACK & REFLECTION

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive 🙏🏽😊.
Runners appreciated the challenge and also highlighted areas to improve — especially the need for more marshals along the route 🚧👷🏾‍♂️.
Overall verdict?
➡️ “Bring it back, but bigger and better!”
Many even crowned it “The Mini Comrades” 🏆🇿🇦🔥 — a badge we wear with pride!

THE TRANSKALAHARI TOUGH 21 ROUTES 🔥(12KM • 17KM • 21KM)

COMMON ROUTE (ALL DISTANCES)
• From Mmakgodumo Dam, runners turn left into Gakgolo, going up secind Incline, before Matlhabanelo Junction
• Route climbs the incline, passing through Gakgolo
• Continues Till T-Junction(Police Housing on the Opposite)
• Turn right towards Prisons
• Proceed up Matlhabanelo Incline, passing the Hospital on the right.

12KM ROUTE
🏁 Turn-around at Goora Montshiwa
• At Goora Montshiwa, 12km runners turn back
• Run straight back towards Matlhabanelo Junction
• Turn left at Matlhabanelo Junction and back to Mmakgodumo

17KM ROUTE
• From Goora Montshiwa, runners proceed towards Trinity Church
• After Trinity, Turn left onto Main Road(Transkalahari)
• Run down Main Road to Total Filling Station
• At Total, turn left, then immediate right towards Council
• Join the road from Spar(Mongala Mall)
• Turn left towards the Mortuary
• At Mortuary Junction, go up Montshiwa Incline
• At the end(Montshiwa Junction) turn RIGHT back to Matlhabanelo Junction
• Turn left at Matlhabanelo Junction Finish POint
• Finish at Mmakgodumo Dam.

21KM ROUTE
🔥 Everything the 17km runners do — PLUS a second loop
• After reaching Montshiwa Juction, take the second loop
• Go straight to LEA-downhill along LEA
• Return back to Total Filling Station
• At Total (second loop), go straight towards Ko G*e Juction(don’t Turn Right at Total)
• Turn left at Ko G*e Junction
• Climb up Montshiwa Incline
• At Motshiwa Juction, turn RIGHT, back to Matlhabanelo Junction
• Turn left at Matlhabanelo Junction towarsd Finish Point
• Finish at Mmakgodumo Dam
