This has been one tough year for us and Our Team at A heritage legacy. We have continued to sit and watch as COVID-19 postpones the beautiful plans we have. At some point we had to box them, close shop and wait for another brighter day. Not much motion happening currently but I cant tell you how much strength we have gained from the women you see on this video. They continue to empart valuable lessons on us that we never thought we'd learn, with a smile nd warmth and such LOVE. Who are we without their wisdom, culture-our heritage and complete understanding. A month ago we had one of the most difficult conversations about the realities of the impact of COVID-19 on the project with hope and trying not to kill the momentum. We had to talk about postponed plans and the negative economic impact for all of us. A project that deeply meant so much to us. We had seen it change lives of families in rural Ngamiland. We have seen them take their children to school, some had started/Completed home development projects and their overal livelihoods have gotten better in many ways.(SUCH JOY!!).
Fast forward, today this evening I open my page, Law and Behold, the collaboration with Absa Bank Botswana. Another project that we long shot (such a fun project) with Abi Films and FCBWired but had to POSTPONE its launch due to sneaky ol'Covid.
We are extatic, sad, happy, exhausted and to be honest emotions are abit allover the place however this warmed our hearts.!!This is a gentle reminder of the journey wev been on and we cant wait to watch the video with our team of women in Shakawe, they are gonna go wild to see themselves on TV!!!!they've been asking when it Airs. We are grateful for the opportunity and those we met along the way who continue to push us no matter how difficult.
This is a project that holds the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals very dear to our hearts. Women empowerment, Poverty erradication, Access to decent work and economic growth are the core of it all. Its not charity its work that makes a difference. We need all the help we can get, Any one interested in working with us are most welcome. I promise we have THEE DREAM TEAM π Its tough but still we stand.
WE ARE; A Premium producer of uniquely made natural handcrafted Indigenous Botswana artifacts using mokolwane palm (the palm tree fibre commonly used in basket weaving) and leather as well as various materials close to nature. We infuse the art and culture of Botswana as well as Africa while preserving our Heritage, thereby re-enforcing our indigenous knowledge systems within the modern societies. Our products were created with our environment and the people in mind, hence why we collaborate with a community of women in the Ngami land west region of Botswana who have dedicated their lives to mastering the art-form of weaving.
