Builders of Bhutan #8 Carolynn Tshering (Funding Support: DOMCIIP, MOICE)

Join us in this inspiring episode of Builders of Bhutan as we sit down with the incredible Carolyn Tshering, a lifelong educator whose journey began when she arrived in Bhutan in 1966.

Carolyn has devoted decades to building and nurturing schools across the country. Notably, she helped establish Thimphu Nursery School, which later evolved into what’s now Lungtenzampa Middle Secondary School.

In this conversation, Carolyn shares memories of her early life, her path to Bhutan, her dedication to establishing and teaching in schools, and her vision as a lifelong educator.

Builders of Bhutan #5 - Dasho Dr. Pedma Wangyal Samdup Out now on Junor Studios YouTube Channel!

Dasho (Dr.) P.W. Samdup, one of Bhutan’s first medical doctors, began his career in 1963 and served as the personal physician to the Third King. He held key leadership roles in Bhutan’s healthcare system, contributing to the eradication of smallpox and leprosy, and expanding immunization services. In 1985, he became the first Bhutanese to join the WHO, serving in Sri Lanka and New Delhi until his retirement in 1996. Post-retirement, he chaired Bhutan’s National Certification Commission for Polio Eradication, playing a vital role in achieving the country’s polio-free status.
