Wheel of Life
The Wheel of Life is a visual representation of the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth in Buddhism.
It is divided into different sections or levels, each of which represents a different realm of existence.
The outermost ring of the wheel is divided into twelve sections, each of which represents one of the twelve links of dependent origination. These links, which include ignorance, craving, and rebirth, are believed to be the underlying causes of suffering and the cycle of birth and death.
Inside the outermost ring, there are six realms of existence, which include the gods, demi-gods, humans, animals, hungry ghosts, and hell beings. These realms are depicted as different sections of the wheel, each with their own unique characteristics and symbols.
At the center of the wheel, there is a pig, a snake, and a rooster, which represent the three poisons of ignorance, attachment, and aversion. These three poisons are believed to be the main root causes of suffering and the cycle of birth and death.
The purpose of the Wheel of Life is to help practitioners understand the nature of suffering and the causes of the cycle of birth and death, and to develop insight and compassion towards all beings. By contemplating the different sections of the wheel and the underlying causes of suffering, practitioners can develop a deeper understanding of the Buddhist teachings and the path to liberation
