52 and counting.
When the country celebrated its fifty-second (52nd) anniversary huge sums of money were spent in preparation for it. Days later the streets that were cleaned before the main event were littered with garbage and debris from the independence celebration.
Two years after the fiftieth jubilee and not much has changed from the fifty years before. The country border is still less secured, the people still go on strike, the lines at every institution wether government or private are still long and slow paced, power outages are still prevelant, poverty is still the number one reason for crime, and politicians still play games with the lives of the Bahamian people.
A nation is only as strong as its leaders. This is why most government employees ask for a handout when doing the job that they're paid to do.
