Sharks, pineapples, sand, and birthday sweetness! 🦈🍍🧁
​Another unforgettable week at summer art camp in the books! Here’s a peek at what our campers created:
​🦈 Ocean Protectors: We learned all about how vital sharks are to our Bahamian ecosystem and sculpted our own 3D shark creations!
🎨 Pineapple Masterpieces: We explored color theory and contrast while painting vibrant pineapples! 🍍
🏖️ Texture & Technique: Remember the sand we collected from Saunders Beach last week? We mixed it directly into our canvas paintings for an awesome textured beach effect!
🧁 Birthday Celebrations: Huge happy birthday to one of our talented campers who celebrated her special day with us by sharing delicious cupcakes! 🎉
🏛️ NAGB Field Trip: A visit to the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, explored their incredible Artpark, and (of course) finished off with pizza! 🍕

We had another incredible week at summer art camp! Here’s what our creative crew got up to:
​✨ Secrets Boxes: We upcycled old cigar boxes and turned them into custom, treasure-worthy "secrets boxes"!
🎭 Cultural Masks: We explored mask-making traditions from around the world, taking huge inspiration from our very own Bahamian Junkanoo to design our own unique masks!
🏰 Fort Charlotte Tour: For our Wednesday field trip, we visited historical Fort Charlotte, took a guided tour, and soaked in all the history!
🏖️ Beach & Pizza: We finished off the trip at Saunders Beach—collecting sand for next week’s upcoming project, blowing off steam at the playground, and ending the day with pizza!

Our young artists took their creativity on the road this week! We visited BahaMar to soak in some incredible local inspiration, exploring the stunning Fairwind Exhibition at the convention center and checking out the amazing contemporary pieces at The Current. A big day of art viewing calls for a serious refuel, so we ended the trip with a delicious lunch at Pizza Lab! 🍕
​Back in the studio, we focused our sights on the sea. We learned all about jellyfish and the importance of protecting our sea turtles, and then put some brand-new painting techniques to the test to create our own marine masterpieces. So proud of these artists! 🎨✨

The first week of the 2026 Summer Art Camp was very enjoyable. We studied two Bahamian artists, Kachell Knowles and Javon Nixon, and created artwork inspired by their styles. During our field trip and pizza day, we visited the Pirate Museum and The Gallery & Wine Art Gallery at the port. We also made a quick stop at Starbucks for a drink before returning to the gallery to enjoy pizza. Later, we learned about bird conservation in The Bahamas and built and painted birdhouses. On Friday, we explored fashion, art, and design by creating our own hats.
