Our very own “Lady Shema” Poitier is releasing her powerful song “TRUST GOD” — a song written 21 years ago during one of the most difficult seasons of her life.
In 2005, while navigating heartbreak, deep emotional turmoil and financial challenges, Shema wrote Trust God with one purpose: to uplift, encourage and inspire a Nation.
Now, 21 years later, that message is finally being released to the world. 🌎 💙

Shema is no stranger to musical recognition! Her debut single “Affirmation” received 3 Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Award nominations, while “We Lift Our Hands,” recorded with Adrian Edgecombe and the Bahamas Harvest Choir, earned the 2004 Marlin Award for Praise & Worship Recording of the Year, with Shema serving as lead vocalist and lead vocals arranger.
Her original songs “Walls of Jericho” and “Catapult” have also advanced to the semifinalist round of the prestigious International Songwriting Competition (ISC), with entries from more than 150 countries.
Beyond music, Shema continues to serve professionally as Communications Liaison within the Sustainable Tourism Department of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.
And for those who know and love “Selah Moonie” Poitier, you know Lady Shema as her eldest sister and the proud MC of Selah Moonie & The Liberation Village! 🇧🇸
