Yesterday afternoon I sat down in the non-smoking high-limit room next to a gentleman named Doug. He’s a retired Army Colonel and a true gentleman. As we talked, I noticed he was playing lower denominations, and something told me I should try to help him out.
Throughout the afternoon, I gave him about $600, a little at a time, hoping his luck would turn around. Unfortunately, the big win never came. Sometimes the machines just need more than we’re willing to give them!
One thing that did happen was a great conversation. I truly enjoyed spending time with Doug, hearing some of his story, and getting to know him. Most importantly, I had the opportunity to thank him for his service to our country.
As for the videos, I learned yesterday that I need a waiver on file at Hard Rock before filming. A Gaming Commission representative kindly reminded me, so I’ll be sure to have that taken care of before my next visit.
No jackpot story this time, but it was still a great day spent with a wonderful person.
