✦ ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
Olha pra mim explores the relationship between two bodies through physical contact, mutual support, and the desire to be seen. Inspired by a lecture by Brazilian psychiatrist Ângelo Gaiarsa on fundamental human needs, Olha pra mim, or “Look at Me,” considers the intimacy of the gaze as a space of risk, refuge, and belonging.
The duet moves between choreographed passages, shaped by texture and sensation, and more investigative moments that emerge through improvisation and intention. Within a performance space structured around a metal geodesic dome, the act of looking becomes a continuous field of relationship—between the performers, the audience, the space, and the body.
[AUDIO DESCRIPTION]
Vertical poster with a black background for the dance performance Olha pra Mim. At the upper left is the white and blue logo of Sutil Companhia. Below it, the title Olha pra Mim appears in large red letters arranged across three lines. Beneath the title, a small vertical red line accompanies the English translation, “look at me,” written in white.
In the center and lower portion of the poster, a photograph shows two dancers inside a hemispherical geodesic structure made of metal rods. Illuminated by amber light, they are close to the floor, their bodies leaning backward. The rest of the space remains dark.
At the upper right is the white Arts On Site NYC logo. Below it, the text reads: “September 12 & 13; 6 PM & 5 PM; with Ádia Anselmi & Chelsea Ainsworth.”
Along the bottom, in white, are the logos of the Paraná State Secretariat of Culture, the National Culture System, the Aldir Blanc National Policy for the Promotion of Culture, the Ministry of Culture, and the Federal Government.
