After almost 10 years in my small plastic shed of a shop my family and I have moved (always an uneventful adventure, right?!). Say hello to the new shop! Gonna take some time to set up as I gotta bump out the wall, add a beam, run electric, insulate, add some windows, etc. But soon I will be able to accommodate the larger project requests I have had to say 'no' due to space limitations. My favorite part of all this? Plan is to have 1/2 the shop dedicated to traditional unplugged woodworking! By far my favorite means of construction!

My boys came into the shop the shop tonight to help me 'pack' as we are moving (and my new shop shop will be over twice it's current size🥳). Not much packing done but each decided to shape some scrap wood. A catapult, sword and rifle all shaped by little imaginative hands.

Next commission: replacement tabletop from solid oak. Client's old table warped and twisted a good 3/4 to a full inch. New table is 6 feet long by 4 feet wide. This small time woodworker needs a bigger shop😆

Got to deliver the latest commission over the weekend. Two side tables and one coffee table with internal storage, aromatic cedar insert and split top sliders for opening. All tables are solid maple with live edge tops.

My better half got me a new hock blade for my recently restored Bedrock 605 1/2. Been looking for a chance to put it to use. Neven been so excited to flatten a table top! The weight of the plane plus the fantastic sharp blade make this a joy.

Kid #1 has gotten into carving. No space in my shop currently as I work on a few projects so set him up fireside with my mini bench. Kiddo is having a blast!

Solid maple blanket chest/coffee table. Top will be a split slider out of solid curly maple. Interior will have a cedar insert for blanket storage. Got to use some old hand tools on this one. Always fun to feel a solid plane slicing material, shaping the joints. Just as crafts folks have been building furniture for centuries.

Latest scrap bin build: mini workbench. Have wanted to build this for quite some time. Current project requires a little extra bench height as I complete the mating corners of a blanket style chest. This little workbench gives me the height plus clamping surface to make the job easier. Cherry, red oak and maple. Descriptions in photos.
