**On this April 29, World Dance Day, we raise our voices as Haitian dancers — not only to celebrate movement, but to call for the peace we need to keep dancing.**
Dance is our heartbeat.
It is the language we speak when words fail.
It is the way we honor our ancestors, heal our wounds, and dream of a brighter tomorrow.
But a dancer cannot move freely in fear.
A dancer cannot rise when the world around them is falling.
A dancer cannot breathe when peace is missing.
Today, we remind the world that **Haitian dancers carry centuries of strength, beauty, and culture** in every step. Our rhythms are older than struggle, deeper than pain, and stronger than any storm. Yet even the strongest spirit needs safety to shine.
So on this World Dance Day, we ask — not with anger, but with hope:
**Give us peace, so we can dance.
Give us calm, so our bodies can speak.
Give us space, so our art can live.**
Because when Haiti dances, Haiti breathes.
When Haiti dances, Haiti rises.
And when Haiti dances, the world feels our light.
To every Haitian dancer: keep your fire alive.
Your movement is resistance.
Your rhythm is memory.
Your art is a prayer for peace.
**And one day, we will dance again — freely, fearlessly, and together.**
