"Fighters. This isn’t a chain letter. I’ve seen too much hurt, too much damage and too much pain. My heart has to speak out loud.
It starts with the little things. Your speech isn’t as sharp, maybe your balance is a little off, basic recall starts to go; why you left to run errands, your daughters name, which exit gets you home after the gym.
Then the world around you starts to change and your patience wears thin. You’re mad in an instant, nervous in every day situations, down because the world around you just feels darker.
Soon it’s not just the outside world, but at home too. Your closest friends, family members, even your partner doesn’t understand you. They’re on your case or upset all the time. The mood swings are constant.
There is too much trauma. Too much harm. You’re running out of time. There’s no options.. no peace.
Feel familiar? Even just in parts?!
The list is getting longer by the day.. Domestic violence, self-harm, su***de, the cause and effect have been widely studied outside combat sports. But you’re WARRIORS. You’ve taken the beatings and pushed on into the later rounds.
It’s time for help. TOGETHER, we can fix things. We don’t have to keep repeating these cycles. Brain trauma and its signs are real. They have to be respected. It can be understood. We need to talk about concussions and CTE.
Scientists need fighters (men and women) that are willing to volunteer. You can help. You can learn more about yourself in the process. You’re not alone, your symptoms and pain aren’t yours alone. They’re shared with those who love you.
Let’s help each other. LET’S DO BETTER!
Here are some links worth looking into. If any of us can connect you with discreet help, please feel free to contact me or any of my friends in private. Peace and love.
