A bold new theatrical showcase amplifying Brazilian voices in Los Angeles Santa Monica, CA — May 8 & 9, 2026 — Highways Performance Space presents MADE IN BRASIL – SOLO WORKS, a dynamic two-night festival spotlighting Brazilian artists working at the intersection of theatre, performance art, and cultural identity in Los Angeles.
Created and produced by Leopold Nunan, with artistic direction by Bia Oliveira, the festival brings together five distinct solo performances that reflect the urgency, complexity, and creative force of the Brazilian diaspora. At a time when immigrant narratives are increasingly central to the American cultural landscape, MADE IN BRASIL emerges as both platform and statement — positioning Brazilian artists not at the margins, but at the forefront of contemporary performance in LA.
A CULTURAL DECLARATION
More than a showcase, MADE IN BRASIL – SOLO WORKS functions as a cultural intervention — asserting the presence, diversity, and artistic rigor of Brazilian creators within Los Angeles’ theatre ecosystem.
“Brazilian artists in Los Angeles have long been producing powerful work without a unified platform,” says Nunan. “This festival is about visibility, connection, and claiming space.”
Under Oliveira’s direction, the works embrace hybridity — blending theatrical traditions, contemporary performance, and cross-disciplinary design — reflecting the fluid identities of artists working across borders.
