After almost 8 years of being unable to work due to health issues, it's good to see that I'm finally back. 17 projects is a lot; many of them I wish I had more time to work on, others didn't go as I planned, but that's it. I even have the canceled ones that weren't published. Nice one, 2024!

Hello!

After these years in the historical miniatures business, I decided to create a mentorship program.

Many areas that I now tackle smoothly someday I had to figure out for myself. I performed several tests, faced several failures - and sometimes didn't achieve what my clients wanted. This caused all types of issues, but at the same time, made me grow as na artist.
So the idea behind the mentorship is to show you my approach at different subjects, and help you so you won't have to go through what I went when I was figuring out how to do things.

Some of the covered areas include:
* Basic body anatomy
* Basic head anatomy
* My workflows for collectibles
* Poly modeling theory and practice
* Technical knowledge on some of the softwares I use, such as Zbrush, Blender, 3DCoat, NVil, Marvelous Designer, Lightwave, etc.
* Technical preparation for 3D printing: common errors to avoid, scaling, repairing softwares, etc.
And any other thing that might had drawn your attention and is in my area of expertise.

Learn more about it here: https://mailchi.mp/ff9cfafc61b0/digital-sculpting-mentoring-sessions

You can have access to the mentorship via my artstation page (link in my bio). Sessions in english or portuguese. Artists from Brazil can contact me directly in [email protected] .

Cheers!

Got this nice Blender material from Fábio Paiva's 3D Masterclass portal! Used in a comission project I've sculpted a while ago. More images in my artstation page:

As I told you in my last post, I’m sharing some tips about digital sculpting cuts. One of the things I’ve been learning is about Dynamesh.

If you are a digital sculptor, you know that Dynamesh is a powerful tool in our ZBrush toolbox, offering the ability to seamlessly merge multiple meshes into a unified whole. This is particularly useful when preparing models for 3D printing. However, it's essential to approach Dynamesh with caution, as it can introduce unforeseen challenges, such as losing some detail and creating bubbles inside the mesh.

One of the primary concerns when using Dynamesh is the potential loss of detail. This can significantly impact the final printed piece. To mitigate this issue, consider utilizing the Model Enhancer plugin, available here on ArtStation, or the Projection Tool within ZBrush (videobelow).

To maximize the effectiveness of these tools, I recommended masking sensitive areas, such as the eyes borders or the mouth crease, before applying Dynamesh. Additionally, adjusting the projection distance can help preserve crucial details, so that isn't too high and only captures what is relevant.

By understanding the potential pitfalls and implementing these strategies, you can harness the power of Dynamesh while minimizing its drawbacks, ensuring your 3D prints maintain optimal quality.

What if we talk about how to mitigate cut errors in digital sculpting?

Through these years working with digital sculpting, I’ve been learning good practices from my mistakes and those of other sculptors (since my customers started asking me to correct other people's cuts).

These are some points I believe bring some headaches to digital sculptors when we talk about cuts:
* Part breakage due to voids
* Additional adaptation work for printing once the sculpture is complete
* Rework due to incorrect mesh separation
* Discovering errors only during the printing process
* Material loss by the client due to multiple test prints.

I’ve been thinking about sharing what I have learned through an online course. It would be my first time!

So, I would like to hear from you: *did you used to have the problems above? Would a short online course about this help?*

By the way, I also created an email list to send tips, news, and free stuff. Click here if you are interested: https://bit.ly/lucasbezerraDS-mailinglist (find it in my bio too!)
