Featherlight was written as a tribute to my mother, Paula Marie Conrad. We lost her to dementia and she is sorely missed. When I listen to this song, it makes me feel like she is next to me. What a gift she was.
She spent most of her life singing, dancing ballet, and moving through the world with a kind of effortless grace. No matter where life brought her, she was always the boldest voice in the room, singing like no one was listening and dancing like no one was watching. She was my number one fan and listened to my music almost every day.
Written for and released through .io, this piece was recorded entirely with real musicians and live instrumentation – no AI.
I hope this music leaves you feeling inspired, light, and free to express yourself. You should express yourself! Especially to those you hold dear. They won’t always be here.
