Since 2014, I've written a vast collection of songs for Ivana van der Veen, each project showcasing her versatility and evolving style. Her debut album, *Different*, was a blend of synth-pop and contemporary pop, laced with sophisticated melodies and heartfelt ballads. However, it also had a few unexpected twists, like the hauntingly unique "For My Hope," which carried a tone reminiscent of Imago Mortis, adding depth and contrast to the overall sound.
With the follow-up album, *Emotional Moments*, I aimed to diversify her sound even further. I introduced vintage grooves, ambient layers, and a more rock-infused, AOR (Album-Oriented Rock) approach. Tracks like "Behind the Clouds" and "Desperate Heart" encapsulated this evolution, blending emotional resonance with a classic rock essence.
Her third album, *Diversified*, truly lived up to its name. It was an eclectic journey through various styles, allowing Ivana to experiment and expand her musical identity. From the mystically dark tones of "The Witch," which delved into pagan themes, to the hard-hitting "Firehose of Falsehood," a powerful track with an anti-fake news message that still feels relevant today, *Diversified* pushed boundaries. But as I looked at this body of work, I began contemplating a new direction—one that would bring more consistency and focus to her artistry.
Having experimented across genres, I initially envisioned shaping Ivana’s image as a retro-wave synth-pop artist, akin to artists like Dua Lipa. Her vocal texture and presence seemed a natural fit for a polished, synth-driven sound. But Ivana had other ideas; she expressed a deep passion for Heavy Metal and wanted to explore that genre. Recognizing her vocal talent and potential in metal, I pivoted and fully supported her ambition.
Ivana Raymonda van der Veen is not only a great singer, but she possesses a remarkable intensity suited for the power and grit of metal. Her voice has the strength and versatility needed to thrive in the genre, and I believe she has what it takes to stand out as a true metal vocalist. With the right backing—a solid band and a chance to tour—I’m confident she could make waves and establish a name for herself in the metal scene.
In my opinion, her future lies in metal. While she has the skills to be a "normal" pop singer, her potential in metal is extraordinary. Ivana has the voice, charisma, and drive to excel, and I genuinely believe that if she invests her energy in metal, she can achieve something truly unique and impactful.
