São João do Tauape DANY R3 O vai e vem dos moradores é intenso. Seja para ir ao trabalho, fazer uma pequena compra ou, simplesmente, trocar um dedinho de prosa com os conhecidos.

O São João do Tauape é um daqueles bairros que, mesmo com o crescimento da violência em Fortaleza, conseguem manter uma vida pulsante nas ruas e calçadas. Hoje, o São João do Tauape tem uma ótima localização e uma das grandes vantagens do bairro é em relação ao transporte. “Na (avenida) Pontes Vieira, você pega ônibus até para o Rio de Janeiro”, brinca dona Edméa. Só que nem sempre foi assim. Mora

dora do bairro desde 1940, quando o pai foi indicado para ser delegado no bairro, a aposentada lembra das dificuldades para chegar até o Centro. No início, eram utilizados os bondes da “Ceara Tramway Light”. O embarque acontecia na chamada 3ª Seção. A história do lugar também é marcada pelas festas. O antigo “Clube São João do Tauape”, segundo Edméa, era um ponto de encontro da sociedade “tauapense”, onde eram realizadas as saudosas tertúlias. Em outubro de 1948, O POVO noticiava a realização de “animadas quermesses” no bairro, com o intuito de doar parte da renda para a Santa Casa da Misericórdia. Décadas depois, em 1995, o então caderno O POVO nos Bairros destacava que o nome da região era originário do riacho São João do Tauape - hoje mais conhecido como canal do Lagamar. Assinada pelo jornalista Ivonilo Praciano, a matéria relatava que “os moradores se orgulham de sua situação geográfica, onde se encontra o manancial que antes foi local de pesca e de águas cristalinas, hoje completamente poluído”. Ao longo dos anos, o bairro passou por muitas transformações. O São João do Tauape assume, cada vez mais, um perfil comercial. Fica a torcida para que o bairro continue a se desenvolver, mas sem perder a ternura e o “jeitão de interior.”
