“There’s something about the way we connect with other people. But what if there wasn’t music made by people?”
In early 2026, we had the chance to follow the daily lives of musicians Adrian Younge Adrian Younge adrianyounge, Ali Shaheed Muhammad Ali Shaheed Muhammad and the entire JAZZ IS DEAD Crew for a few weeks during the creative process and discussions surrounding an idea: recording and performing a human cover of a song made with AI.
This idea generated various materials, campaigns, events, and a whole mobilization to shed light on the future of jazz and music in general in the face of the challenges of the new times.
Surrounded by friends, old cameras, and some film rolls, we spent unforgettable days in Highland Park, LA, recording people who love and consider music the most important thing in their lives. It was an honor and a great pleasure to document this period.
This is the record of that process. A short documentary, some alt takes and BTS memories.
A special thank you to Bruno Regalo for connecting us to this universe.
To Anh-Thu Le for all the help with the production.
And finally, to the whole Jazz Is Dead crew for all their passion and support during this time of immersion.
